Im sitting here waiting patiently, reloading the Play.com page every few moments waiting for the time when the "Pre-order" tag goes off and they take the cash from my credit card.

I was gonna be nasty and ask if anybody else has received a shipping confirmation email. But that would be just wrong. :D

I can't wait. tick tick tick

I was kind of hoping they'd ship to arrive for the 10th, you know, like they do with DVD's, if a DVD is due for release on Monday, they have em in stock, packed and shipped on Thursday. Sometimes you get them on Saturday. Othertimes, it's Monday.

I can't take the waiting any longer.

Im getting up and checking my email and order status hoping something's changed. Which reminds me, must look now.

YES!!!

(nah, only joking. again)

I linked to an article on my group blog in another thread. No need to do it again, but I got in contact with a Samsung Representative and they said, shipping has already started for Europe and should be priced at 530 Euro without contract.

So if it started shipping this week, they might get it in either at the end of this week or the beginning of next.

Which is why the 14th or 15th is looking like a solid date.

To be honest i think FuTuRe is right on this one for example like you said Expansys would probably be delivery on Tuesday, Handtec and Clove are more than likely to take stock on monday so if you have payed for next day delivery that would be a tuesday delivery as well.

As for Play well we will see tommorow if they change anything but even if they say they have it in stock it does'nt mean you will recieve it any faster than any of the others, Companys like play in particular who don't give you a option for a faster delivery sometimes say they have something in stock before anyone else because if it takes them to tuesday to get it to you well no one can complain lol.

Anyway we shall see.

This is going to one expensive new toy... It has now been in a pre-order in quite a few websites here in the Netherlands but most of them only offer the 8GB version, long story short it should arrive in week 26...

coughing up the cash is always the hardest part, though I just think that it may not be such a great idea to make a 2 year commitment...

This doesn't make any sense, although Im not saying it isn't true. I went through the terror of an N97 and even Nokia couldn't tell me or give me a rough idea when I would receive a pre-order direct from them.

Smacks of bad logistics IMHO.

But lets think about this.

What would be holding it up? There was one posting somewhere that suggested that phones were actively being shipped out now (presumably to retailers).

I can think of a few possibilities.

1) They haven't actually shipped anything to any retailers yet. Nothing is in transit. There is nothing. They physically do not have the phones to ship.
2) They've found a bug/decided to update to FroYo/additional feature (eg add a cradle or tv out wire)/hardware issue (eg gps, wrong battery, whatever) and they've held everything to fix, what was it, a million units?
3) Samsung just want a nice unified release as promised before hand, whining Americans.
4) Vodafone et al have demanded first release.
5) Clove.co.uk are despised by Samsung or Clove.co.uk have it wrong

Im clinging to the hope that it's number 5. Though I could imagine it's number 4.

Number 5 is really clutching at straws lol

It would be nice to think Samsung are adding something but i doubt it.

Vodafone are still saying next week but i guess we'l see if that changes.

Maybe Samsung want it too come out the week of the release of the iPhone 4 ? Although i doubt that as well because surely it would be a advantage to get it out before the iPhone? lol

You are right... 5 is a none-starter. If there's one thing I know about Clove it is that they are loyal to their customers to the core but are no fools. They have been in the business enough to not let large companies such as Samsung bully or do anything untoward.
Look at it this way ~ which sole company did Samsung come to to present to Europe the phone. It was Clove and Clove had with them at that meeting the publication arm starting with Smartphone Essentials.
No, Samsung know Clove are a viable ally and will do well to keep on their side.

My theory is with the launch of the iPhone 4 and the reason behind this is not so much of it being a bad time to sell their flagship at the same time as when Apple are releasing their 'world beater' but more of a tactic.

Samsung will know and understand that what time to get the worlds attention than when most are switching on waiting to hear of news to the release of the iPhone 4.
This way you get a maximum audience waiting for news, all tuning in to whichever and whatever means then BANG!!...... Samsung launch and steal the party.
They push out TV commercials (which are about to happen) just when everyone is waiting to watch the iPhone on TV.
They are playing a waiting game... be that TV, newspapers and media of every kind.

In a way I admire them for taking on Apple at their own game.... Apple smarted Samsung this week and tried to give Samsung a black eye.
Samsung will not obtain anywhere near the same sales as the iPhone but boy will they make a significant dent doing it at the same time and get a significant peace of steak to ease that black eye. :)

Im not an expert at iPhone users habits, having had Nokias up until this Android order. Except my first phone, the Phillips Diga.

But I don't quite understand why they should hold off on those who have pre-ordered? Unless they're trying to target first week sales information to compare to the iPhone?

I also can't help but thinking, that just delaying the Galaxy, will do nothing to make up peoples minds, unless Samsung come out with something pretty special in their marketing.

If you love the iPhone, face it, you'll stick with the iPhone. If you're not sure about it, you're gonna look around.

I can see myself getting peeved off at this rate and going with a Motorola XT720.

I followed up with the Samsung Rep again about this new delay and she is still commited to saying that the Galaxy S' have already shipped to Europe at an MSRP of 530 Euro without contract.

Unless it takes two weeks to ship to them, I don't know. But she is saying they are on the way.

I still have a little hope for this Tuesday

I see Play.com have pushed their date back to 28th June.

This means Unlocked Mobile who still say pre-order think they'll have the phone today, Expansys still think 4 working days, Clove has 21st June, Play.com the 28th and Vodafone and now apparently 3UK suggesting a release next week???

Additionally, Play have advised me that the manufacturer has pushed the release date back to 28th! Im a bit surprised they mentioned the manufactuer themselves rather than their supplier or anything.

Interesting.

Beards, do Clove.co.uk have any further feedback as to why there is such a huge disparity in release dates? Do we think it is the network wanting first dibs?

I'll be speaking with Chris Love on Monday. Hopefully by then we will have a clearer picture.

In the meantime all I can say is that date of the 28th may have value. :(
