Help Where did the lights go?

[/COLOR

What the heck have I done wrong? I've had this DInc for 24 hours now and darned if lights for the Home, Menu, Return and search buttons come on and off sparatically. I've rebooted the phone a couple times but to no avail. Has anybody else had similar problems or am I just one of the lucky ones?

The backlight for those 4 buttons are controlled by the ambient light sensor that is located to the left of the Verizon branding at the top of your phone. If you look really closely, you will see 2 circles, one being the ambient light sensor, the other being the proximity sensor. If you cover that up, the 4 buttons will light up. When they aren't lighting up, then you are probably in a well-lit area.

And depending on the lighting in the room you are in, it might cause them to come on and go off seemingly randomly. My room for example is bright enough to make them not light up... unless something is in between the light and the phone, such as my head haha.

For the first few days with the phone I couldn't figure out why the lights were on sometimes and not others. Turns out my head was in the way sometimes. =p

Even in a well lighted area if the back-lighting for those for buttons need to be on, trying to see them when unlighted is not all that easy.

The problem I'm having doesn't seem to be related to the ambient light. I have the phone sitting on my desk right now and the back-lights for the 4 buttons was off then with no input from me the back-lights lighted up.
