Okay, so this is completely off topic, but its been bothering me quite a bit.
I work for a Canadian cellular company, I just work in a dealer store so I'm just sales.
Anyways, a man and his father came in. The father couldn't talk, he could grunt and drool though (he is seriously old, like 80 - 90), and he had one of those steel walkers, his son looked in his late 30's early 40's, and handed me his fathers cellphone saying that it stopped working, and that they just moved here from alberta and need to change the address and phone number. They give me the existing number but I need the postal code to bring up the account, otherwise I can't get anywhere. Which the son doesn't know and the dad... well he doesn't either. So I get them to call customer service, and they change the address on the account after about on the phone for 20 min or so. So after its all said and done, I type in their cellphone number and the new postal code, and the account still doesn't pop up, so I call my dealer support group (referred as DSG from here), after I was on hold for about 10 minutes, I get in contact with a DSG rep, I tell her the cell number, and postal code and she can't find the account either, we proceed to do some digging around and we find the proper account number, and she said the account wasn't under the old dudes name and it had been cancelled, I ask the customers in the store if it could be under someone else's name and the son said it could've been under his mothers name, turns out it was, so we open the proper account. So the DSG rep and I are both thinking this had been frauded, there was notes on the account saying that another woman had called in and cancelled the account and is porting the cellphone number over to our competitor, the reason for this. The account holder had died. Now me being a logical person thought this was fraud, so I asked the customers if they knew the name of the person who had cancelled everything, and turns out it's his estranged sister who cancelled everything and that they had put the sons mother/ the old man's wife in the hospital 2 days ago, and she had died and the sister didn't tell them, so alas was the one who had informed them about this. They had no idea. Talk about a bummer :(

tl;dr: Old man's wife died, and didn't know until his phone got cancelled and I had to tell him this.

Note:I'm not looking for sympathy or anything, I just thought I'd share my odd cell story here. I'll post anymore if anything else odd happens

Well, I worked at a place like radioshack in canda for 8$ an hour and thats where I learned most I know about selling cellular, I was there for 2 years. Then, I got hired at a specific carrier dealer store. Starting wage is 9.50 an hour, and when I got hired, we made 12% Commission on our gross profit. (So a new 3yr basic voice contract made 60$ GP, a voice and data like an iphone makes 150 usually), then they changed it to a tiered system, where for 6% commission you needed to have 4 Voice acts 5 data acts 1 broadband (like a mobile internet stick) 16.50 average RAR (which is basically those value packs you add on for CID and voicemail $12 Valuepack = 12 RAR) and then it gets bigger and bigger quota for 12%, 15%, and so on.

They just lowered my base tier to 3% commision. Sales have been slow. Times are tough.

Note: This is all based of canada's crappy cellular rates
