when my evo is plugged into the outlet charger, the screen and the menu buttons are frozen, but the volume and power buttons work. when i unplug it from the charger, it works fine.

this happened after downloading systempanel lite. this app put two icons on my evo, after uninstalling the app, one icon is gone, but the icon for the tak killer is now a wierd image that reads "problem loading gadget"

does the freezing issue seem to be related to the app? what can i do to try to fix it?

now i am getting some responses by using the touch screen... but it seems to be VERY laggy.

If i do a hard reset, I have a few questions. Does that mean the phone would reset to when it was new with all of the factory data? Is there any risk of causing damage to the phone? Can any reccomend a good walk through on how to do it? how long does the process take?

I had the same problem plugging in to the car charger. hasn't happened again though thankfully. I actually had to pull out the battery to get it working.

Thanks for posting this. I am a bit perplexed why there were suggestions for hard reset on this issue. A battery pull should help for any performance issue. No need to go through dumping all data on a device unless the matter requires extreme measures.;)

Don't do a hard reset, at least not yet! I had the exact same problem. It's your charger. I bought an aftermarket charger from a guy in China on eBay. I started having this screen problem and noticed that it went away as soon as I'd unplug from the new charger. So I tried the old charger and found no problems. I swapped back and forth between the new and old chargers and every time the new charger was plugged in the screen would lock up. The original charger says that it puts out 5.0 volts, while the new one that doesn't work says 5.2 volts. I wouldn't think that amount of difference would matter, but it seems to. The new one will charge the battery, and the rest of the phone keeps working including all Android programs, just the touch screen feature is affected. Try a different charger.
