Full scale attack on Engadget for censorship!!! Freedom of speech shall prevail

It is time to evoke a full scale attack on Engadget. This time they have gone WAAAAY too far in deleting the EVO vs iphone 4 poll just because EVO was kicking @ss

I encourage everyone to post comments there about this just so they know they will receive a can of whoopass if they ever try something like this again. Freedom of the people and freedom of speech shall prevail!!!

Do you really think thats necessary? Its their website and they can do whatever they want to do with it.

Yup. This is not a 'freedom of speech' issue. It's only a freedom of speech issue when it's the government using force to silence people. Engadget is private property and they are free to run their website however they wish. This is really a 'credibility of a source' issue. Thats the angle you need to take.

twospirits: I'd just close this thread. Not to tell you how to do your job or anything, but Androidforums probably doesn't want any backlash from people setting up spamfests on Engadget from here.

Anyway, @topic: they took it down because it was unfair to the iPhone 4, which hasn't been released yet. They are going to republish it as soon as they've posted their review. Calm the hell down.

Yeah you overreact but what the OP says is true. Engadget is most likely being payed by Apple and if the poll said more people getting the iPhone, it would have stayed up. Fortunately, most people say the EVO is better (HELL YEAH) so they removed the poll.

It's a sad truth, Engadget is full of apple fanboys, but not as bad as Gizmodo...

I already posted the real reason, stop dramatizing the issue.

Where did they say that was the reason?

Also, haven't they already had one in their hands?

Freedom of speech...

Freedom of the press...

Endgadget is a private press organization.

They have freedom of speech, the press, and the freedom to do what they wish with their private publication...

Do I agree with it?
No

Have I deleted Endgadget from my feeds list?
Yes

Am I going to "Attack" them?
No

What i will do is spread the word and let people know how they operate. That's the only rational course of action.

Right. So they can make sure the poll comes after they've managed to talk up the iPhone, and trash the EVO in comparison. I agree this isn't a freedom of speech issue, but the only thing that was unfair from Engadget's point of view is that the iPhone wasn't winning. :)

Most of us don't agree with your "reason"ing, it appears. It seems odd that when the poll got taken down, the EVO was ahead, and now that they've put it back up suddenly the iPhone has a huge lead.

its not a matter of telling me to do my job, cause we as staff members are here to listen what the members have to say and if any suggestion is for the betterment of the community, the suggestion will be carried out.
The way i see it, AF won't get any backlash. If a member wants to set an agenda like he is, thats up to them. We do not condone it nor are we telling members to do it. if Engadget is claiming thats the reason, then I see it as a very good reason. Besides like i said before, they are a private company and can do whatever they feel like.

Anyway, back to this thread. Even though the thread is in the lounge, I'm closing it cause i see where its heading.
