Root help w/ roms

ok what you need to do, download the files VZW_A855_ESD56_QSC6085BP_C_01.3E.01P_SW_UPDATE_03 (1), and RSD lite for your computer, leave the VZW file as it downloads which is a .sbf file. plag your droid into your computer via USB. do not turn it on, hold the power button and up on the D-Pad, when you release is when it will turn on, its the boot loader. you let that just sit it should say something about SW-update, and your battery. open RSD light and there is a button with a ... picture on it, thats just like a browse for files button, open the VZW .sbf file (the huge one) and click install, your phone will run thru all that automatically that is rooting your phone, then you need to download the update 2.1 for your phone, you can download the rooted file anywhere online, once it is downloaded on your computer, you leave it as a zipped file, if you are running windows XP or older, rename it to update.zip, if you are running windows vista or newer, just rename the file to update, via USB mount on your phone (when its just plugged into the computer and able to transfer files between the two) drag that onto your root folder, which just means you open up the SD Card main file on your computer when its connected, and you paste it in there, not inside any folders just on the card itself, then shut your phone off, start the phone by holding the power button and X at the same time, this should open up a different boot menu, you go to update.zip and your phone should update to the newest system update that is legal OTA (over the air) then you are rooted and on current operating system, then download ROM MANAGER, just from the market, and you can download ROMS from that app, or you can download them from your PC and put them on the root of your card and run them from rom manager, either way works. hope i helped although i didnt go to in depth, maybe you could watch some how-to's online if you need more help or ask more members questions
