Help Anyone return an Evo because the bottom screen is separating

I am just curious if anyone has yet. I was just reading the light leakage threads even though the light leakage has not bothered me, but when I started looking at the phone I noticed that the bottom of the screen is moving up and down alot. Really has me concerned, if I take it back do I take it to a sprint store or back to the shack.
By the way MHO is the build quality on this phone is very poor, where as the hero I had was top notch.

My phone shifts only very slightly and only on the kickstand. Your probably wasn't put together well, mine is great.

Get a new EVO.

No quality control at all with HTC with either the incredible and now the EVO. I would take it back and demand a new one. Read my thread on the problem I had with the Shack...goin straight to the top of the corporate chain for the crap they caused me on launch day.

Yeah, what started out as light leakage apparently seems to be a bit of a bigger problem. Mine does the same thing. I checked with the RS manager I bought it from and he claims he will let me exchange it this friday when he gets more in, we will see.

As mentioned, a clear sign of the screen not being completely flush would be light leakage coming from the bottom of the capacitive buttons.

A very temporary fix is to "push" in the particular button which may be leaking light, this will cause the problem to fix for some moments, but go back to normal.

Though it's hard to tell exactly how much the screen may be raised, I have compared the top portion of the phone to the bottom, and the top portion appears to be recessed in slightly more than the bottom.

Someone previously mentioned that tightening the 2 screws on the very back of the phone (with battery cover removed) helps with the issue, but for me, personally, this was not the case.

Some may think it's a minor issue, and perhaps it is, but for those of us who paid over $200 for this phone, which we will keep for at least a year, I believe it is vital for these issues to be fixed now, rather than later.

Another side-effect of the screen being raised/not being sealed well could be a higher chance of picking up dust beneath the screen, something like this may not be instantly noticeable, but could add up over time, so imo, better to deal with these issues now rather than later.

Ya the bottom of my screen is out as much as the top of the screen is receccesd and moves the same amount when I push it in and it just pops back out. Really sucks

Yea mine has a light leaking at the bottom and on the left side of the screen. I am probably gonna go to radioshack to see if I can exchange it. Paid good money for this so it gotta be perfect. lollz

How do you notice the movement, does it just happen naturally or simply when you press down on the buttons?

I've been reading up on this a good bit, and someone on the androidcentral forums mentioned a sort of fix using a tiny bit of black caulk you can find at a hardware store to cover the light leakage, however, first of all, we should not have to resort to such methods, and second of all, if this is mostly an issue with the screen not being sealed correctly, it would not fix that.

Honestly, you can never expect to have a perfect phone, but this seems like a bad oversight imo. If it was just light leakage, that could be considered nitpicking, but the screen not being on properly? What worries me most is any future problems, such as increased light leakage, dust getting beneath the screen more easily than it should, and possibly the screen becoming more loose over time.

The worst part about this is that it has made my phone feel more like a rental....sure I can customize it and all, but most of that stuff will be gone when I get new one.

and what are the chances that your next replacement phone won't have this problem. Mine didn't until last night. Good luck with the replacement, but that really skirts the larger issue here which is more than likely adhesive failure. It will happen to all these phones if that is the case.

My man has a point....what good Is jumping though hoops to change it , if over a small period of time its going to happen to most , if not all the EVO'S down the line.

I notice it when I hold it at an angle and push down on the phone, there is a lot of mmovment.

Never said I was getting another Evo I could care less about Evo, I just want android, thats what is appealing to me not the phone.

A few members of the androidcentral forums have noted that they did not notice any light leakage/screen problems until several days after they got the device.

I'm really hoping newer batches of the device are manufactured more efficiently, or else replacing a device may not do much good...

The funny thing is I did not noticed the light leakage either until today, but I did notice that the bottom of the screen was not near as recessed as the top of the screen, I noticed that on like Sunday I think.
I may just take it back and hold my upgrade until sprint comes out with another android phone, whenever that may be.

Unfortunately, I don't think Sprint will be getting any better Android phones anytime soon. I'm sure they'll release a few more medium-specced devices, but my pickyness would not allow me to downgrade from the EVO.

Unless we get the Samsung Galaxy S, or something equivalent we are probably out of luck until the November/December months.

Oh my, this sucks straight weiner. If I push really hard straight down on the bottom corners of the screen, I can see it move about a half a millimeter down to where it's just beastly recessed under the border. Feels bad man. No light leaking though.

On my Evo, the top left is recessed in while the top right is slightly above the bezel. The bottom left and right both are evenly slightly above the bezel. I can push down on all for corners and it "rocks" in and out.

Dam it.....the 2 corners of mine on the bottom are a little loose as well. lol....I prob would have not noticed this early into the phone if I didn't read this thread, but there is deff some give to the screen. and that only means one thing...DUST! This thing is going back..ASAP. and if the next has similar issues, I' ll just wait for the Shadow. As of now, from the looks of it....HTC makes really sexy devices, however there put together like absolute crap!!! What a joy kill they have been, first major issues with the incredible, and now the EVO...I think its safe to say we all love the Android OS,,,is it too much to ask for a device to run it on that is put together the right way? Not too happy right now.

Those are about my thoughts as well. Like I stated I was not so much excited about the Evo as I was with just a new android phone. I am going to call radio shack later and see whats up.
Funny thing is if anyone local had a case on launch day I would of never noticed this(and still no one has any cases).

I e-mailed HTC and Sprint asking about the issue. I have it now on all four of my phones. If you're concerned you should do the same. The issue won't be fixed with new shipments if the companies don't know or don't think it's enough of an issue.

Its funny that I had no problem with my Hero and you did, it's funny I have a problem with my Evo and you don't.

It's obvious that these are isolated events, hence my comparison.
