Switch from Moto Droid to Droid Incredible?

I currently have a Droid rooted and overclocked to 1ghz. I just found out that I can upgrade to a new phone (I took a family members upgrade to get my Droid in October). I really like the Incredible, its fast, sleek, and I happen to like Sense a lot. Sense seems to make Android a whole new better OS.

Now should I spend the $200 and get the Incredible once it is in stock again, or just keep my Droid. I used to like the keyboard, but I realize that is is more annoying than useful. Is the Incredible that much of a difference for me to switch or should I wait for something else?

Thanks for your help.

I never owned the Moto Droid, but the Incredible is, incredible. I liked sense, but I now use LauncherPro for the speed aspect. Once this phone is rooted, you will have overclocking (I'm assuming) and any other feature you want that your droid had (except the hardware keyboard). If you don't like the stock keyboard, get a 3rd party one. If you want to, spend the money, it's a matter of preference. They are both great phones, but the Incredible would get my vote.

Well, I've had my Incredible since launch day and I think it's the best phone in the world. And it is! It's faster, better specs, sense ui and unlimited customization possibilities, i dig htc phones more than motorola but that's just me :) i haven't since this thing lag, im amazed how awesome it is, definietly get it. I returned my eris the minute i heard the incredible was coming, suddenly it's like eris who?

And if you cant wait, check your local best buy's, and i just checked amazon, their in stock!

Well if the keyboard isn't the dealbreaker then I'd say jump ship and join the Incredible crowd. From the people I know that own a Droid, most of them rarely ever use the keyboard anyways. With the Incredible, you're getting a sleeker/thinner phone that's much lighter. It'll probably run smoother than your OC'ed Droid too plus if you like Sense, then go for it.

After reading the responses here, I think you should post the same question in the Droid forum and compare the two threads.

Then post a link in here :)

I am in the same boat, I have a Droid but am available for a upgrade. I had a Incredible for a while and really liked it but returned and decided to wait until the new 4g phones start coming out and would like a bigger screen as well. The Droid will be fine for the next few months until something I like much better comes out.

Droid is a pretty darned good place holder to wait with :) I was on Tmo and had a G1, so not the same desire to wait that long. If already on VZW wit Droid and just now looking, a few month wait is no problem at all.

I was in the same boat, with a rooted over clocked moto droid. I switched, and I am glad I did. I often felt my moto droid was... buggy... it never seemed 100% after the root and over clock. The incredible was smoother and faster for me.

Exactly, as the Iphone fanboys say, The Droid Incredible "Just Works"

I had the Droid since the day before official release (thanks Walmart!) and loved it, but I never used the hard keyboard, and I didn't like the weight of the phone. It slowed down a bit but didn't bother me too much. I switched to the Incredible and prefer almost everything except the screen. I guess I'm one of the few who can see the pixels on the Incredible's screen due to the pentacel thing, so the Droid's screen held the advantage for me. I also think reception was slightly better on the Droid. I really like the Incredible though, and now that root's available I'll probably keep it for another 6 months until the next greatest phone comes out -- for me that's something with a bigger screen AND a higher resolution one.

I am thinking about switching from the Incredible to the new Motorola Droid 2 because of those reasons. I couldn't put my finger on it until I read about the PenTile matrix sub-rendering problem on our Incredibles. I read a lot of PDFs, I have to turned the brightness all the way down and it still hurts my eyes after 20 minutes of reading. It could be allergy seasons but I've been getting a headache reading e-books any length of time.

The 16-bit color banding is a big deal too.

You will be kicking yourself by the end of the year if you do. The incredible is great, but not much of an upgrade and there will be phones that make the HTC Evo look old by the fall. You will be like the Guy who upgraded from an iPhone 3g to a 3gs and can't get an iPhone 4because he. Wouldn't wait a few months.

True, but I dont like the Droid 2, and personally the Droid X looks sweet, but I dont want motoblur. I havent heard of anything new from HTC (I love Sense) and I have a feeling with FroYo the Incredible will be a whole new phone. I think its perfect and will last me a while. I dont need a front facing camera (seems unrealistic to me) and the size screen is great for me. Also I think the 1 ghz snapdragon will be fine for 2 years, I dont need a phone with 2 ghz...ITS A PHONE, the Incredible is plenty fast. But newer phones coming out is something to think about.

Agreed wait for the 4.3" android phones to come out. I would love to have a bigger screen. The droid screen is better. Anyone that says otherwise has not seen them side by side.

Please read my previous post. I dont wnat a 4.3" giant screen, thats too big. 3.7" is perfect for me. I dont want to be carrying around a tablet in my pocket.

I got the Motorola Droid on release. Well I had it until April 29th. My husband really wanted it. So I gave him mine, and he got me the HTC Incredible. Because I didn't like the droid in terms of the heavy factor. I prefered something that I could carry around easier and lighter also something more purse friendly...the HTC Incredible is better than the Moto Droid. But it really comes down to if you want a bulky/sturdy phone..if your a male...I can see more people owning the Moto Droid vs female and if you are a female...i can see a fe male going for the incredible
