Just did a key test!

Not to be super bitchy, or an attention *garden tool*, here... but haven't I been preaching this scratch resistance for almost a week on every one of screen protector threads? I mean I've done this to my Hero already, and I used my brand new house key, forcing it down edge and teeth first, applying high amounts of force down and around trying my best to get under the film layers that's applied to the glass in the factory...

Haha, wow, that's interesting. I'm laughing because I have the INVISIBLEshield on mine now, and in showing a friend how confident I was with it, I scratched it with my key. Now there is a silly little mark that I can't get out, and that is very visible. :/

I'm still not confident enough to take the shield off though, lol.

You can get a new one, they come with a lifetime replacement guarantee.

If anyone here works outside or tends to get dirty then you will want a screen protector. Sand will still scratch the screen and who knows what other little random particles might damage it. Much appreciation for this video, I was ready to cry when you hit the screen with the tip of the screw!

This. People did the same key test to the iphones screen back when it came out and they didn't scratch. I worked in a desert area in southern colorado for awhile. I didn't even work outside but sand must have kicked up at some point and made it into my pocket walking to and from my car. It doesn't matter how careful you are at that point, it left a nice big scratch mid screen and a smaller one off screen.

Ya I added that same disclaimer lastnight. Don't want anyone to think it's scratch proof when it's not.

keys, utility knife, a screw? Seriously, you call that a scratch test. Its not a scratch test unless you try it with a dremel tool. Then we can talk. :p :D

(just joking)

Nice to see (i mean not not to see the EVO tortured like that, but good to know0 that it can withstand such abuse.

Nice to see the media covering your test as well. congrats. You are now a celebrity. (Donald Trump will call you know)

TS out

Register ur shield on the website and have a replacement sent. When the new one gets in, stick the damaged one on a piece of paper and send it back. Gotta love lifetime replacements!

nice that is promising! very exciting news... i'm glad to hear glass is finally getting better, used to be it was a scary thing to have

The top surface of a resistive touch screen CANNOT be glass...it HAS to be a flexible material...if you hold a touch pro 2 at the right angle, and touch the screen gently with a stylus, you will see it flex (look at a reflection in the screen at a sharp angle as you touch and remove the stylus).

The EVO uses a capacitive touch screen, which means it does not need to have any flex to it at all, so they're able to use significantly harder/more scratch resistant materials.

Whoa, after watching your video and you showing off how the screen does not sit properly in place, I took a look at my device and I am finding the same thing here. It doesn't move up enough for me to put my finger under it, but I can definitely push the screen and see it noticeably moving up and down. Just looking at it I can see how the bottom is much higher and more uneven than the top of my phone.

I guess, its back to the store. This isn't a common thing is it? Man... I just got my phone set up perfectly... lol.

That aside, at least when I get an EVO with a screen built properly, I know it'll be pretty scratch resistant. Haha...

I am starting to wonder about the screen also . I wonder how high the screen is suppose to be or not.
