Hi everyone, figured I would post this here to let everyone know that SEIDIO has lied to me, falsely advertised a battery as 1750mAh but it is not.

I was only getting a little better life out of the 1750, couldn't figure out why, started to change my usage profile, but was pissed off that I had to change. So I started to do the math and it just doesn't add up.

If I am to believe that the HTC OEM battery is really 1350mAh, then the SEIDIO would be 400mAh, but I wasn't seeing that kind of availability in battery life.

So, I took the battery apart.

So A quick google search of just the top number so far, shows that many manufactures think this battery model can have a capacity of anywhere from 1390 to 1530.

I can understand that, battery manufacturing can be tricky, it can be confusing, and its constantly changing.

But I cannot find any CELL maker that shows this battery as having a possible capacity of 1750 mAh.

Anyone else willing to take their SEIDIO 1750 battery apart ?

UPDATE:
As I still investigate, the part number might not be an actual cell number but size/part number. However, there is still a ridiculous amount of difference in posted mAh Capacities...

Yikes, I just ordered one the other day, too. Should be here today, so after I go through all the charging cycles to prepare it, I'll let you know how it works. I ordered it through Amazon.com, so I know their return policy is pretty good if it doesn't work right. Although I wouldn't be willing to take it apart, as I'd rather just have my money back if it doesn't work right...

Having bought the 1750 directly from Seidio a few weeks ago, I am hoping @seidioseidio responds to the OP. Sure sounds like they have some explaining to do.

You might be right about the battery, but personally, I find it lasts much longer than the stock battery. I also found that initially, the battery didn't perform too much better, but after a week or so of charging, it seemed to get better. I can now get 10-12 hours of life out of my phone when I was only getting 6-8 before. maybe I am just getting used to the phone and pushing it less, but it seems to be working better for me.

Wow you people are lying to yourselves if you think this is OK. You might get slightly better but this is a downright lie. This is the placebo effect at work.

There have been other reports of this from batteryboss but this is damning evidence. If I had a seido battery I would stop payment on the credit card today, send this to the better business bureau and talk to a lawyer about a mini class action suit.


Lets hope this isn't true.

As for battery tests I'm tired of anecdotal evidence. Someone should come up with a standard test like all radio off and see how long it can play mp3's.

This I've gotten 37 hours out of my phone when holding it at a 30 degree angle to the hypotenuse of the moon is getting us no where.

The thing that was odd to me was that the OEM battery felt heavier than the seidio.

Im not defending Seidio here but to say they are outright lying is quite a statement. There are laws in this country against false advertising. I find it hard to believe they would stake their credibility by purposely misrepresenting thier products. The link you posted listed the min capacity at 1530 and typical capacity at 1590. What about max capacity?

I have noticed a definite increase in my Seidio battery over Stock. My phone life has went from averaging nearly 3 hours of awake time with the stock battery and now my awake time has been avg. 5 hours with the Seidio and I have only had it for a week so it hasn't even been fully conditioned yet. I don't pay attention to standby time as it's the time my phone is awake that matters to me so I'm not sure what the change has been there, but I know I'm getting more life out of my Seidio.

could it be that you got a fake battery? where did you get yours from? i personally got mine from Seidio, and to tell you the truth, whether its 1500 or 1750, i know that with my moderate usage i still get 2 days worth....

I got mine a couple of weeks ago. Battery life still isn't the greatest but it DOES last longer than the stock battery. I actually get full day now with moderate use. My stock barely got half a day with moderate use. See what's draining your battery.

In my experience Seidio batteries work well after conditioning, but quickly lose the ability to hold a charge. I have purchased many of their extended batteries for many BBs in the past and they start out good but dont last. In fact I had one of their high-cap BB batteries die completely while on a business trip. I have never had a cellphone battery completely die on me ever...Thank god I had a spare.
I am waiting for a higher cap HTC battery that uses the stock rear cover, and I am not holding my breath...
Not a bash and ins Seidio, I like their other stuff, I just will steer clear of their batteries.

Still disappointed in its capacity vs reality.

Yes there are laws, but those laws are violated by companies every single day, all day long. Just follow the business lawsuits out there, companies get sued all the time for their shady and often outright illegal practices.

It is will within reason that they would advertise a battery that gets 'typical capacity' of 1590 as a battery that has a 'max capacity' of 1750. What makes it into the advertising though, is 'this is a 1750maH battery'.

Doing that probably couldn't even be shown to be illegal, but in the end the customer gets screwed over it.

I find this to be pretty damning evidence against Seidio about their products. The only way they could be exonerated in my mind is if the OP bought his battery from a third party and it was a fake. Happens all the time.

Back in the mid to late 90s, I worked for a computer company that purchased Pentium 166 MHz chips from China by the box. Every one of them was a Pentium 133 MHz chip that had been acid-washed and remarked. Most of them even worked. We knew what they were, but they were so cheap and profitable that the owners used them anyway. They also bought Office 97 fulfillment CDs for $19. These CDs are the media that a company can buy when they purchase a large number of licenses that are delivered on paper, so these CDs give no license to the user to use Office, it's just meant as the media to go along with a bulk paper license. We sold them all day long to people for $199, which was a steal for Office at the time - except they were completely illegitimate.

Boxes of OEM Windows with the same certificate key, refurbished drives sold as new, used parts put in new machines - this company did it all, and that's why I moved on from there, and since that time I've seen plenty of other businesses, both where I worked and where I was a customer, pull crap like this. Hell, just look at the financial industry now. Businesses don't like to play by the rules, it's not very profitable.

I'm sure from a corporate standpoint he's not allowed to address issues such as this on the forum. He is very helpful when there are general issues and order problems and such, but I'm sure there are rules as to what can and can't be addressed in a forum.

This would definitely be one of the issues that could NOT be addressed in a forum.

I personally have a seido battery and have been happy with the improvement, however if, as stated, it really is a 1500mah battery, I will also be disappointed, as I understand those are in fact selling for closer to $15 elsewhere.

I gave this company a lot of free publicity with a 10,000 viewed follow up post.

So if you turn out to be right, you can bank on Better Business Bureau report and Visa Fraudulent charge removal. Fraudulent on the part of Seidio.

While I've been happy with my battery and have been a big supporter of it, this news is potentially disturbing. I'm sure stuff like this happens a lot more than we're aware of. Doesn't make it right though. Interested to hear what they have to say. Not sure what my options though since I didn't buy mine direct or from Amazon.

As stated above give the battery several cycles and it should be noticeable on how much better it is. No battery seems to live up to the full stated capacity, but i am very happy getting 25-30 hours on my 1750 for sure.

Interesting, I was searching and found some other batteries that state larger capacities and even close to the 1750, but still not 1750.

I am still having a large problem with not finding a cell maker that makes a 1750mAh battery in this form factor - which still makes me want to call SEIDIO a liar.

Obviously, if SEIDIO can come back and explain this to me where some sort of explanation handles the difference - I can retract my statements...

I think you're missing the point; The battery in the OPs post is, indeed, higher capacity than the stock battery, so people will most certainly get better battery life.

However, the battery was advertised and sold as a 1750mah battery, but the cell actually inside the battery is rated for 1530. So, while 1530 is indeed more than the stock 1300, it's being sold as something even better.
