So I am confused on how i am supposed to use email on android. Am I supposed to use the gmail app or HTC email app? Also is there a better email app? I am coming from a Palm pre. Is there an email app that views html email better? I like how on the iPhone and pre, you see the WHOLE email, zoomed out. I hate having to pan around, I hate by default it is zoomed in.

I'm with you. Just ditched my iPhone and this email formatting thing is driving me crazy! Can't seem to find any info anywhere on how to make the email shrink to fit the screen. I hate scrolling left to right when reading an email....that's why I left my blackberry. Might be something we'll just have to live with.

As far as I can tell so far, the "Gmail" app is built for Gmail and is the only one on my phone that gets push from Gmail. "Mail" from HTC will get push email from my work's Exchange server but will not give the option for push if I add my Gmail account. As of now I use both but it is annoying to have two email programs when my Pre amalgamated them in a single app, both with full push support.

That's the way it should work. It only works in HTC mail though....and that means no push gmail.

This is my first android phone, i'm surprised this isn't a big complaint.

I just did it in gmail, but I'm not using an EVO. I'd find it odd if it was phone specific. I created a new message and typed a sentence. I tap and hold the middle of the sentence and a menu came up with Select all, Select text, Cut all, Copy all, Paste.

I've been weighing the pros & cons of HTC Mail, Gmail and K-9 mail. I've pretty much settled on Gmail, but I can't stand the way the REPLY button is buried at the bottom of each thread. The HTC app has the REPLY button locked on the bottom of the screen while in the read pane. Gmail doesn't even provide a REPLY button off the physical MENU key. Dumb! If I have a particularly long conversation open I have to swipe 5 times to find the reply key.

PROS on Gmail: displays emailed pics immediately upon opening without prompting for saving etc. Check boxes in the INBOX for batch deleting.

CONS on Gmail: No REPLY button in read pane. No prev/next keys in read pane. No custom sync settings other than always on or off.

Any suggestions maybe on another app or a setting I'm overlooking. Thanks.
