I just wanted to tell everyone thanks for the great site. I just flashed my eris to an evil eris rom and i love it ... wifi tethering , overclocked.... amazing.
This phone is so much better and faster with no lag! The posts i read last night in my frustration of trying to load the recovery helped out alot. I wouldve never finished if it wasnt for you guys, and the advice you were giving.

Yeah .. its aggravating when people repost repot repost the same Q's only to get the same A's ... i wouldve prbly asked for help had i not got it working properly last night lol. (5 hrs later after starting at midnight..... finally got it all fixed up. (combination of mistyping command prompt lol and bad downloads))



im not the most tech savvy person i have an ipod touch that i jailbroke myself ....and i had a ps3 that i installed linux on .... both were fun little projects.

Rooting and flashing a custom rom are something i highly recommend now ... as i do jailbreaking "i" devices.... so limited off the shelf but after a little bit of hacking and tweaking you really can use your device to its full potential.

Batbriel, as i under stand it.... The process of rooting your phone unlocks it at an admin level allowing you to install a recovery partition on to your device , which in turn allows you to "flash" a custom rom on to your device so "rooting" is a type of hacking to unlock more access to your phone, rooting allows flashing to happen ... flashing is simply the term used to describe the task of installing new firmware(custom rom) such as evil eris on your device.

Just read and ask questions ........ and use the search bar .... also google does wonders as does youtube.

Flash is what they call putting a new rom on your phone... or certain app/mods.

So if you rooted and wanted Evil Eris, you would flash it

Very simple, even though it mihgt seem complicated.
The hardest part is rooting. After that, you'll be flashing like nobodys business.

I believe you would have to rollback to 1.5 first. Here is the thread:

No roll back needed. The initial zip you used to actually root your phone will overwrite 2.1 as well as 1.5 (as long as its not a 2.1 leak)
