Are you covering your Droid or leaving it as is?

Hi all! New to the forum and Android as well. Been pretty much messing with my phone non stop since I got it two days ago and loving it so far.

I was curious to see what most of you were doing with your Droids as far as protecting it with a case or leaving it how it is. I personally picked up one of VZW's grippy black cases (don't know the exact name for it) and I'm pretty happy with it but it kind of makes the phone feel a little too bulky for my tastes. I've been going back and forth on case vs no-case and was hoping to get a little insight from the rest of you as to what you guys are doing with your phones.

So, as the title says, are you covering your Droid or leaving it cover free?

Ya, I bought the case too, and now wish I didn't. I should've realized that it wouldn't fit in either of docks and I definitely dont want to remove the case every night. Also like you said, I like the thinness of this phone and adding the case makes it look bulkier. When I showed this phone off to my friends they were shocked at how thin it was, now if the case would have been on, would they have had the same shock factor? doubtful :p sooo.. no case for me, I'll just be extra careful.

I use a screen protector ALWAYS and a leather holster case. I dont wanna snap on a case and make the 'worlds thinnest qwerty slider' lose its title ;)

On my last device I applied a Phantom Skinz full body protection and it worked REALLY well but at the end of the day , it still kinda covered the natural beauty of the device. With my Droid I am going to go all natural for the body and Verizon screen protector for the front.

I use a screen protector
yeah i cut a universal screen protector to fit the size of the droid-screen. did you guys cover the whole thing (earpiece, screen, buttons) or just the screen itself? right now i only have the screen itself covered but i'm thinking maybe i should cover all of it?

I just ordered a droid phantom skinz here: Phantom Skinz - Clear Protection Film for Motorola Droid I used the discount code "droidtwit" to get 35% off at check out.. came to around 16 or 17 bucks with free shipping.. That's the best price I could find on these kind of skin things and I've heard good things about them.. I get my droid on Monday and this should come soon after so I'll let you know how I like it!

Ill go ahead and throw my .02 on this. I need the typing practice on the droid anyway =)

I had researcher skins for my dare for weeks and it always came down to the invisible shield or the phantom skin. I ended up buying the invisibleshield and it was. Ok. Nothing to get overly excited about. The first dare took a cfap so I nabbed up a phantom skin, and that was it. I loved the phantom skin.

My friend took his sharpest key and keyed the hell out of my dare, a few hours later the gouges that were there were gone. Fricken impressive

Ill openly recommend the phantom skin from experience. Thanks for the discount code! I got mine shipped for 16 and some change just now. I love this phone. Almost replaces a pc!

I haven't put anything on mine yet. I've always been a big fan of the zagg invisible shields, but this touchscreen business is making me think twice. The glass just feels so good. I hate trying to use my friends iphone with the shield, just feels so gummy. Are the materials used in those phantom shields similar?

I like the idea of a rubber or silicone skin, or the clip on cases, but i figure to put it in and out of the multi-media dock, and the car doc, it would be a pain to snap and unsnap it out of the skins, so just went with a simple belt-pouch type case. That way easy to remove from pouch to put in nightly home doc, or the car doc.

I use the clip on case. It has the sturdy rubber case and when it's in the holster it faces inward, so the screen is protected. When it's not in the holster I'm not too worried about it getting scratched.

I bought the VZW screen protectors, but haven't used them, I also bought the car dock, but since the phone won't fit in the dock with the case on, I returned the dock.

Id rather have the car dock than the case. I promptly took my droid on a 3 hour trip to charleston and was jamming to last.fm while navving the whole way. It was just orgasmic

Now onto the feel of the skin on a touchscreen. I had the dare with both and you're right that the invisible shield was a bit grabby. I did now experience that with. The phantomskin. It was smooth just like this droids screen, that's why I don't notice much difference.

I am notoriously rough with phones so I opted for the VZW screen protectors and the Body glove case. I have no problem with the screen protectors, they seem pretty decent and I love the style of the Body glove case, it comes with a optional swivel clip, but the biggest hindrance of the case is the bulkiness. It makes typing on the built in keyboard a little more difficult but I've already become accustomed to it and the extra bulkiness will pay off after I forget that its on my lap and jump out of the car....:p
