If you hit menu or open any app the notification bar comes back.
I had mine hidden for a while but now have it showing again, I guess I just like to see it there even though it looks better without it.
This doesn't necessarily answer your question, but to anyone else who sees this and may want a way to hide the notification bar:
ADW has an option to have it hidden, and then the Home button can be used to toggle it showing/not showing. I'm not sure if LP has this feature now, but I believe the two developers collaborate with each other.
As people have said, I asked the same thing and "menu button" is always the answer. Someone commented on the LauncherPro homepage (and I hope the developer applies it), the commentator asked if the developer could add a downward swipe to the homescreen mimicking the notification bar swipe to bring down the notification bar. But until then, it's going to be the "menu button."

LauncherPro has the option to hid the notification bar, but does not have a way to unhide it without opening an app or deselecting the option to hid it.
I just keep my notification bar showing. I know it looks better without the notification bar, but I do love using the notification bar. Especially when I get an email or SMS. I just drop the bar and touch the notification. It doesn't matter what I am doing or what screen I'm on, it just takes me straight to the email or SMS from there.
I did put in a feature request at LauncherPro's website forum to include something that will allow us to easily open the notification bar when it is hidden. I suggested that a long press on the app drawer button to open the notification bar would be a good idea. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
I wish it could behave like the hidden task bar in windows (skinny little bar that expands on hovering (swiping)), but with an automatic "opening" effect whenever a new notification arrives. (problematic with apps like SetCPU and TempMon, I know) Still....
Upon reading more in the LauncherPro website forum, I have found that pressing the menu key on your phone will display the notification bar and allow you to pull it down from there.
I did not know this when I posted my feature request and this is basically what I was asking for.
Yea, sorry about that. I must not have read those posts very closely. That and my Dr. has me all drugged up right now because of my stupid back. Don't mind me, I'll get over it sooner or later. Stupid medication for my stupid back. Though I must say, I do like the drugs. They just mess with me and make me post stupid redundant stuff on forums like this one. LOL
If I could, I would. However, I work for a hospital and if I so much as get a paper cut, I will (not can be or could be, but will) be tested. I like my job too much and I am paid too much to risk losing my job over something simple like failing a test.
