Well every forum ive been too there have been hardware issues whether its a HTC, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, mmm not too sure about a iPhone as I never had one so i cant say about that one. You have to imagine they kick 1000's of these things out of the factory a day though its no excuse to accept bad hardware but we have to expect things will happen..Maybe get a replacement?

current iphone has defects as other phones

dead pixels, hairline cracking plastic, etc

new one on the other hand looks pretty sturdy but im sure will come with some issues of their own... time will tell

since the iphone 4 isnt out yet you can use the "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence"

Someone please convince me why i shouldnt return this phone and wait in line to get an iphone on the 24th.

LoL... it's like saying "please someone convince me why I shouln't eat this Double-Double cheeseburger from In-n-Out and develop heart disease..."

If you want to go from the best phone on the market today to rotten fruit... by all means brotha. No way I'm gonna stop you... ;)

Go get it. I really don't care. You didn't bother to mention what your defects were so we can't help you.

major light leakage below home button and search button, bad battery life cant last an 8 hour shift will mostly on stand-by in my pocket but i tried the CDMA trick so ill see how that goes today, Touchscreen grounding problem which is the most annoying i cant use SWYPE when my phone is on a table and i can not send picture messages to non-sprint customers. I may not be able to send them to a sprint phone, but i dont know anyone who has sprint besides me.

I don't understand this thread at all. You say you like the phone, but you say that you don't like the build quality of HTC phones. You didn't even say what specifically you're talking about... That's like buying a Xbox 360 and saying," I like the Xbox but I don't like the build quality of Xboxs..."

What specifically about this phone is not built well? I personally have not had a single problem with my phone and I think the build quality is actually quite good. It feels good in the hand, is solid, kickstand works just fine... so... what's wrong with YOUR phone?

All first run phones have issues. They are pushing these people hard to meet initial demands so quality control isn't as stringent. As things slow down quality is bound to rise so just exchange it in a few months and you will get a much better phone by then. Oh, and about the iPhone 4, glass on both sides huh? Great idea, sure to be no issues there I bet?

You really want a a group of us to "convince" you to keep this phone? The beauty of a free country is, that you can do whatever you want. I find it humorous you threaten a public message board by telling us you'll go out and get an iphone on the 24. Clearly you have no understanding as to how good a phone this is.

Good luck to ya!

@OP

You're going to get a lot of flack for coming into a predominantly Droid forums and posting what you posted. The iPhone is in its 4th generation and the Evo is in its first. Apple has taken time to build their only mobile phone device over and over again while HTC is coughing up many Droid phones. If you want to go with a more stable product, go with the iPhone and this is coming from someone who owns the Evo currently.

I love the phone, and the android UI, but just the poor quality that seem to plague HTC devices is really pushing me towards the new iphone. Someone please convince me why i shouldnt return this phone and wait in line to get an iphone on the 24th.

Im not going to stop you its a nice phone too. Its just AT&T thats garbage.

Plug the phone in and it will work on the table

Battery, there are enough threads on how to fix that

Mms, call sprint.

i shouldnt have to do that for a 500 dollar device...

sounds like a noob, those issues aren't with the phone. Except maybe the Swype thing but learn more about Android as far as battery issues and learn more about Sprint as far as the mms issues. Before u bash the phone remember that it is a product of HTC Sprint and Google.

HTC EVO FTW!!!!

1-Light leakage
Return it and get another one.
2-Bad Battery life
Numerous thread about this, if one solution does not help, either return it or wait till HTC comes out with a fix.,
3-Touchscreen grounding problem
Have yet to see proof of this, but if true, return it.
4-If you have to use swype and you are unable to send them anything because they do not have it since they are on non-sprint phones, then return it.

i shouldnt have to do that for a 500 dollar device...
Much like any phone out in the market that is brand new. All of them are expensive without a contract.

Precisely. If it doesn't work out for you, return it. Nobody here is going to convince you to stay. Nobody would convince me to stay with a phone if it did not live up top my expectations. Posting to that effect is fruitless. All it does is cause problems postings.
