Root stuck on number 9 on A. Pre-requisite: Android SDK

Been a while since I did this, but I think I had the same issue and ended-up just selecting the usb_driver directory itself and not one of the subdirectories. Try this and let me know. If it doesn't work, I'll try to re-install mine. Thanks.
nah it doesnt work. it says " windows was unable to install your coprocessor "

Huh? Weird message...you are not on a MAC are you? Which device in the Device Manager are you looking at, is it a "USB Mass Storage Device" under "USB Serial Bus Controllers" and have the yellow triangle with exclaimation mark on it?

Don't know... Mine shows up as "Android Phone" with "Android ADB Interface" and I've also got an entry until my "USB Controllers" section.

Okay, let's make sure we're on the same page:

5. SDK installed?
6. Phone is in USB debugging mode?
7. Phone is connected to PC via USB cable?
8. Ready to update USB driver?

If you're still stuck and nobody seems to be helping/can't help. Try visiting the IRC the devs usually frequent.

Chat

If you don't find anybody in #ErisRootHelp try clicking on #DroidEris.

I'm usually in there or there's a few devs in there that can help you out with the "ironing out" of details that would usually go overlooked to an inexperienced rooter.

Hope this helps!

GhotiPhish3, thanks for chipping in...:) I exchanged several PMs with Incrediblenotinstock on yesterday and even spoke with him on the phone.

He does need a little bit of guidance and I urged him to very carefully read through the theads to make sure he understands at each step when is about to happen. I got him pointed to the SDK tools directory and tested that 'adb shell' does indeed talk to his phone.

I was a little uncomfortable urging / nudging him to complete the process over the phone since there is still a learning curve that needs to be addressed. I didn't want to lead him down a path that I could not get him out of -- if you know what I mean... :D

Hopefully, he'll be cautious and take each step thoughtfully and carefully. Glad to know that someone else also followed-up. Cheers! :)
