Screen burn!

I noticed a lot of people with the Nexus 1 were suffering from Screen burn, that is, when a static image gets permanently imprinted on the screen. The problem came from the white notification bar at the top. If you then viewed a blue background you could still see the notification bar slightly... you can test this using different colours using a light application on the android store.

Anyway, can the HTC Desire get screen burn? I think it is less likely as the nofication bar is black in HTC Sense, and black is less likely to cause the problem. Anyone noticed any?

As per comments, its not burn in as you'd see it with the screen off.

Likely sticking pixels, or degraded ones.

That's what I thought... which is why I find it strange sooo many Nexus 1 owners are claiming the notification bar is burning in... or producing an effect which is the same

I wonder if they have tried one of the strobe apps to clear it? On a Plasma you would use strobing or gradient wiping, but I don't see how the same principles would apply to an AMOLED screen, I thought the whole point of them was that as they produce their own colour, they couldn't "stick"...

These displays do wear out, but it's supposed to take years. Check out this thread:

Thank god for HTC's 2 year warranty

I imagine I will have changed by phone in two years time anyway.
