I have hundreds of books, manuals, and blocks of text information that I wish to read, but with no Eris app that "works" for me I must carry a Palm TX. The material is 100% text, no images.

My requirements are
1. Load text files
2. Adjust font size
3. Controllable scroll
4. Instructions (user guide, manual, etc.)

I've tried Laputa, Aldiko, JJReader, Wordplayer, eReader, and others - and every one of them fails on at least one of the above.

And it's critical that the app provide help in loading, storing, and accessing the files.

Price is unimportant - I really REALLY need an ebook reader!!

This Eris is on 2.1, and is not rooted.

Recommendations?

How do you get the books from Calibre to Aldiko? I hae tried soing it wirelessly and dragging and dropping? When I go to pull it up it says no ebooks found.

Create a folder on your SD card called ebooks (the name isn't really important) and then a folder inside that one named imports. Place the ebooks you want in the import folder and disconnect from the computer. Open up aldiko and select menu > import. It will search you SD card for books and they will show up in your library. You may have to select the ebook folder the first time.

I followed this carefully (I think).
After creating an ePub with Calibre I put it in the Imports folder that's inside the ebooks folder, then told Aldiko to Import.

No books found.

And worse, when I try to download books from sources listed in Aldiko, I get

CANNOT DOWNLOAD BOOK
Please make sure your SD card
is present and that your device is
not in "USB Storage" mode.

If it isn't letting you even download then I would guess it is a problem with the SD card or how Aldiko is viewing the SD card. I would try uninstalling Aldiko, deleting any folders connected to it from your SD card and starting from scratch.

Uninstall/re-install worked. I left the existing library intact (in the ebook folder), and now all is well.

Thanks.
