It seems as though my kickstand almost needs some lubricant. It sticks somewhat over halfway open, and needs a push to fully open, as well as close. My question: what oil/lubricant would be safe enough to use without eating away the paint and finish on the phone? (I.E. WE-40 is definitely out). It's just annoying because I use it alot to prop up the phone and keep it off its back, and camera lens at that. It's annoying hearing it squeaking every time it opens and closes.

I wouldn't use WD-40 - My Evo doesn't have this issue, if i was you though, i would exchanged it - but if you must try this perhaps? Amazon.com: Tri-Flow Superior Lubricant with Teflon, 6 oz: Sports & Outdoors or some sort of grease?

Honestly, there's no way in hell I'm trading out my Evo for one eency little problem like this. It's honestly nothing some oil-based lubricant can't fix. Why risk a lemon over something as small an issue as this?

Do NOT use any liquid lubircant!!!!

Something like Jig-A-Loo, Elmer's Slide All, or a dry graphite lubricant should work. That's my $0.03, but I am not a professional so don't hold me accountable.

I hadn't noticed this until I was talking to someone on speakerphone and playing with the kickstand. She said "Is that a rat chewing on your phone or something?!?" I guess the squeaky vibration was making way down to the mic and she could hear it. Now I notice it and it's annoying.

The Kickstand could be a problem in the future of EVO. The spring loaded leg has such a small spring, it is almost definitely going to ware out before EVOs life is over. Possibly even snap off. I was thinking about all the possibilities of what could possibly pop the kickstand off a few days ago. I dread to if it happens to anyone. It will definitely be an eye-sore if it is no longer there.

Contact HTC about the problem and see if they have a remedy for It.
