Where is Superuser Permissions?

I have an HTC Hero on the Sprint network and I'm currently trying to root it. I follow the instructions according to this guide

and i get to step 9 and enter what I am supposed to. The problem is that when I go to my app tray there is not application for Superuser permissions... I have pushed all the indicated files to my sdcard and nothing. Suggestions?

Menu>settings>about phone>software info Does yours say 2.27.651.5?

If not then you need to find that version of android.
