Just upgraded to .8 . Finally!! I can do away with those useless dots and replace them with more shortcuts! And they added the ability to backup/restore the launcher and desktop. I can't comment on those cuz I haven't tried them yet, but this to me was a major improvement and literally kicked Launcherpro out of the picture.

Great job with this one!!:)

A lot of great features but my favorite is the backing up and restoring of the desktop configuration. This is going to make it that much easier to try new roms. This will save me a lot of time! I quickly tired it out and it works great. I backed up my desktop, deleted everything off of it, then restored it. Worked perfect!

Whelp ... here's one guy that WON'T be using ADW.Launcher. I like that you can specify how many columns and rows you want on the desktop, but if I change either setting, it messes with Beautiful Home widget (and any other full-width widget). :( Fail.

When I restore my LauncherPro Data from my Tibu backup its always back to the way I had it...never been an issue for me, I think on one for the Froyo builds it didn't work though.

Ditto! :)

I think ADW is great and this backup settings and desktop will certainly gain rom flashers attention, great job with this launcher.

This is an AWESOME feature and it would be great if the LauncherPro developer implemented this. But, like another poster stated, TiBa usually restores your desktop settings.

That being said, it's going to take something revolutionary to get me to stop using LauncherPro (top 5 Android app).

I've played with ADW.Launcher and still think LauncherPro is better. I just don't like ADW.Launcher because it seems to be a little laggy. I haven't had any FC's with it, which I a very good thing, but it just seems to lag compared to LauncherPro.

I'll keep playing with it, but I'm still leaning towards LauncherPro as being the better launcher.

here's a tip if you think ADW is slow/laggy:

go into ADWSettings > Screen preferences
and set "Desktop scrolling speed" and "Desktop overshoot" to 0

no go to ADWSettings > Drawer settings
and set "Zoom effect speed" to 300

voila! much faster than LauncherPro! you're welcome :D

i didn't give up LP til i discovered this. now there's no going back.

I did this and it did make it fast but it also make the transitions from screen to screen very choppy. Is there a happy medium or do we get fast and chopping or not choppy and laggy?

Edit: played with the speed setting and got to where i would like it but the scrolling is still smoother and easier on LP. LP also added in the speed setting so i was able to fool with them a little. Overall still happier with LP.

Yes it does! Another vote here for ADW.

I've been lucky I guess, but I just don't get the laggy/choppy that some do... been using ADW at least a couple of weeks now, and since day two have had it set at 0/0/300 as mentioned above (thanks again to Fab for that), app drawer set to vertical scroll.

Now, this phone is rooted and OC'd to 900/Performance governor, so as an experiment I setCPU to 600/Performance/Set on Boot... rebooted, and tried it out as close to stock CPU speed as I could get... screen transitions still smooth as silk, app drawer pops up faster than you can blink. Maybe it's because I only have 3 "active" widgets (S2 cal 2x1, DigiClock 2x1, and set CPU) and 5 (2 sparsely used) home screens? KISS works for me.

Dunno, but I prefer the ADW feature set to Launchpro, and even though I have large paws and fat fingers, have no problems swiping the "extra" app bar up and down, just takes a little practice that's all.

LauncherPro just released a new update. I now get 15 dock buttons and have the option to keep LauncherPro in memory so it doesn't have to rewrite my homescreens all the time.

I will give ADW.Launcher another try and will put the settings as you have suggested. I just don't think it will beat LauncherPro, but will wait to form an opinion until I try it.

I love the fact that both are great products because it sure seems that these two devs are constantly pushing each other to keep making their products better. I find it extremely hard to stick with one over the other because they are constantly making them better, almost as if they are trying to one up each other.

edit: And of course this morning they both have updates and from looking at each of their websites both have amazing new features. It is getting really hard to pick one!!
