Accessories 2150mah Extended Battery + Case

YouTube - Droid Incredible w/ extended TP2 OEM 2150mAh battery

A video of someone with a 2150 mAh battery (though it's from the TP2) who is not using the stock extended battery cover, but instead using it with a silicon case that really covers up the "lump" of the back.

Kind of cool, but it does require me to get a silicone case (so another expense).

Not sure what to do now. What do you guys think of the video?

Battery is still fricken huge. And I don't know if I would feel comfortable just having a gel like case on the back with nothing else.

First off I don't know if that would look great and there is very little supporting the battery from possibly popping out if the phone i smoved around a lot.

All they have to do is redesign the back. If they made the back round instead of continuing the contoured square/rectangle back, you'd hardly notice the difference in size. Its really just stupidity in design.

That's pretty much my thoughts as well. Maybe there will be aftermarket battery doors made after awhile. For now though I will be looking forward to the extra battery life.

Well. I know what Ill do. Buy the damn extended battery with the back cover, buy a gel case. dremel out the back extended cover where the battery juts out and put the gel case over it. it will give the support to the headphone jack and protection for the camera and loud speaker while reducing size

That extra battery life would be a lifesaver.

OMG that thing is ugly ! I guess anyone that has already gotten a case for their Incredible will be skipping over this battery. I can't believe how big it is. I can only imagine how big the battery and back for the 3500mah will be ! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA !

The problem is not how big it is, but the design. Nobody wants a huge lump in the middle of the phone. I had a Seidio 3200mAh battery on my Nexus One and the back for it was designed extremely nicely: http://www.seidioonline.com/v/vspfiles/photos/BACY32HNX1-BK-4.jpg

I have high hopes that the Seidio 3500mAh battery back cover for the Droid Incredible will be even better than that. I am hoping for a physical dimension similar to that, but with Droid Incredible shapes on the back.

Here's a rough example picture I drew in paint.

Huge batteries need a backing that is not awkward, and fits with the feel of the device. HTC/Verizon failed on this one. The back should have been overall raised, not just the one part.

Wow, glad I found this thread. THANK YOU TO THE PICTURE POSTER!!! Dude, you don't know how many people you have helped with posting that. I was soooo waiting for this battery. Looks like I'm going to get the 1750 instead. I can't believe they F'd it up so bad. Somebody said that the silicone backing without a case was ghetto. At least it was cheap and designed by a person looking for a quick fix. HTC actually had people design and develop this craptastic ghetto fabulous back door.
WOW.
EPIC FAIL!!
I'm sure there were a lot of people looking forward to buying this too. Why, gawd, did they not just raise all of the plateau's on the back to equal levels insteads of making one big cancerous cyst on the stock door? They are a RE-****!!

I think everyone that was interested in this battery should go back to page 2 and thank user pcayabyab for promptly posting pictures and saving a lot of us from being very, very upset when we received our shipments.

I just received mine, and I don't think it looks that bad. It looks like I have an extended battery on my phone. I don't see what the big deal is? I bought it for function, not looks. It does add bulk to the phone, but it also make it easier to hold. Also it has almost twice the capacity as the standard one. I bought a 1500mah battery, but it still did not hold up to what I needed.

just my 0.02

Hey, can you post a pic with the battery and cover installed in the phone? I was thinking of picking one of these up. I know it adds thickness to the phone. But so far I've only seen the cover, not the phone with battery installed.

Why can't Seidio or another 3rd party create a back plate that accommodates the stock extended battery, but that eliminates the "hunch" of the stock extended back plate?

Seidio:

Are you listening?

The back plate could be a few bucks ($3-4) and allow people to buy the extended battery and NOT have a hideous phone.

I understand this might take away from some of your 1750 mAh sales, though.

Here are some pictures as requested. I even included some of the phone in the seidio holster without the innocase. I do not like phone cases and was happy seidio sold one that works without the innocase II.

i dont think that is as bad as it looked in the other pics. they still should have done a better design job

True, those pics dont make it look "as" obnoxious as the other pics, but it still looks a bit rediculous. Has anyone considered going root and just setting a profile w/ setCPU to throttle down the CPU to a set 250mhz? I am giving it a shot and am getting some great results.

(before anyone yells...yes the device automatically throttles, but can fluctuate even when sleeping depending on cpu activity, by forcing 250 in sleep it will prevent fluctuation)
