First off I would like to say that I have been using HTC devices on Sprint since the original Touch Pro.
The Touch Pro was *so bad* that they gave people who had it a FREE Touch Pro 2, which is what I upgraded to the Evo from.
The Evo on paper seemed like a dream come true to me. All those flashy stats and even a freakin' kickstand!
Unfortunately reality has kicked back in and I now realize how inferior my shiny new Evo really is. Don't get me wrong I love the pricing of the plan and unlimited data is hard to beat, but what good is that unlimited data when there are so many issues with the phone that it's almost a wonder how far Android has come.
Build quality on the phone seems great at first glance and it does feel good in the hand, but as we all know it's a ticking time bomb with light leaks and general disregard for quality.
The only real reason I took another chance with Sprint is so I could stream radio with no data cap to my car. Even this simple task is too much for the almighty Evo, or should I say Android in general.
You would think a multi billion dollar company like google could fix a simple codec issue with AAC that prevents *horrible* sounding audio quality on 20-30% of every song I listen to over streaming 3G. Nope.
I am not a fanboy of Apple, hell i've never owned anything made by them. In fact I don't even want to migrate to AT&T for fear of their *reputation* with dropped calls and coverage shortcomings.
So I'm left with sticking it out with my Touch Pro 2 which I'm sad to say is better in my eyes than the Evo, switching to the iPhone and capping at 2GB *or pay $10 for an extra gig here and there*, or just waiting it out for the next big thing.
Fact is, that as much as I don't want to see Apple's new iPhone succeed after being so hyped about the Evo and 4G, I most likely will be getting an iPhone 4 simply because of Apple's dedication to build and sell quality products (AT&T service aside).
Sorry for the Rant - I will miss you Evo.
