I've read lots of review of the Evo and looked at the specs of it and they're great. The iPhone 4's specs are also great. And honestly, I'd go for either one. The iPhone is very good at what it does - I have an iPhone 3G and S, so I know. The Evo, even when compared to the latest iPhone, IS more advanced and there is just more you can do with it (wifi hotspot, customizations..). Keep in mind that the Android OS isn't as polished or matured as the iphone OS, but, it continues to get better and better with each release.

If someone needs to convince to buy it then you obviously have not done any research on it yourself.....Read through the threads and I am sure you can come up with a decision all on your own!

- Both the iPhone and the EVOhave thousands of apps to use.

- Both feel great in your hand. (EVO a few ounces more - makes a difference)

I'd suggest you figure out what you want from the device, what you want from the network, and what you want to pay. Then call Sprint, ATT, or any other carriers and see what the best offer they have is.

If you want reviews of the phones, try the normal review sites like Engadget, CNET, PhoneDog, etc.

I don't think the phones are comparable so asking for advice probably isn't going to be highly reliable so much as just a pile of opinions. Oh, and don't forget, very few people have ever held or even seen iPhone 4 so you can only get slant and opinion even if we wanted to give you unbiased thoughts.

That said, even if the iPhone 4 was perfect, it's still on AT&T which is a big enough fault to make me avoid it at all costs!

I do a lot of videoconferencing. With my Evo, I've been able to keep that up on travel, without a wifi hotspot - just using 3G. With the iPhone, you have to have wifi to use the feature. And it's effective on the EVO - no jiggling or complaining with the Evo kickstand to steady the phone.

I think that's a pretty huge difference, right there.

And not only is the Sprint network better - it's way, way cheaper if you use your phone a LOT.

Your answer was perhaps more correct and succinct, as was the answer to just try it for 30 days.

But trying something like that can be a real hassle, with forwarding your number from service to service and so forth.

1. Your monthly bill will most likely be higher with ATT
2. ATT is having problems supporting the devices they have on their network now- I wouldn't assume it will get better when the iPhone 4 comes out.
3. You can no longer get unlimited data on ATT
4. The EVO is customizable- customization on iPhone is minimal.
5. Development on iPhone is much more restricted- although apps may be more polished they can't be as freely developed.
6. as stated before - try it for 30 days free
7. if you like larger screens the EVO is gorgeous.
8. User replaceable batteries.
9. Tethering is available via apps or contract on the EVO.

I left my phone on overnight to use as my alarm clock, I've had over two hours of talk today, and three hours on the mobile network, and have controlled my apps sensibly and have performed the various battery tips and tricks - and I'm at about 58% of my battery.

Projecting forward, that's 4 hours of talk and 6 hours of moderate data use I'm expecting for today.

I like Sprint TV - knowing I can keep up on breaking news without having to search, search, search. I even watched a sitcom, something about Cougars, just to say I did - and it was pretty OK. I've also used TV.com (also available on the iPhone) and found it OK.

Another question you want to ask yourself - do you like Flash or not?

A whole lot of websites use it, and yes, it will drain your battery a bit more - but so what? You have the option to use it on the Evo - forget it on the iPhone, you get put in the middle of corporate protocol wars and get to read about why you don't need it. While iPhone users were doing that, earlier this week, I plugged mine in and enjoyed a lot of my favorite music videos from YouTube.

BTW - did you notice the difference in screen size?

Btw, even if the iphone had twice the battery life of the evo (which is very doubtful) you are stuck with what you have. It's not removable. With the evo you can either 1. Buy a bigger battery and custom case or 2. Pick up 2 spares for a whopping 10 bucks on ebay.

Sprint TV is fine. My only experience with it is espn mobile and the world cup. That said, i can watch soccer live on a fairly crappy 3G signal here at work which says something.

Other then that, browse the other threads for answers. As a former iphone and palm pre owner, i can list off a ton of reasons why i like android better then apples os or webos.

What I haven't heard anyone talk about is how the phone is glass on both sides with a steel band on the outside that's supposed to be the antenna's? I mean it's bad enough you have to be careful with the screen but now the back too? And if you hold the phone in your hand your touching and covering the antenna's? Not to mention the steel getting all scratched as well. Seems like the phone is just looking for problems. I'll be getting the evo thank you.

No, the iPhone is a bit easier as a media player and more intuitive. That being said, Android is an evolving OS and is really in its infancy. I expect it to really improve on the media side very quickly.

Also, I head that if you root the EVO you install some app that lets you implement the wifi hotspot WITHOUT paying the $30 per month fee from sprint.
