:p Okay, so I've never used swype, but everyone in the Evo forums is going crazy over this thing.

Since sprint and their defective EVO can go to hell. Also since I'm 99.9999 percent sure I'm leaving sprint and coming to T-mobile, the company who treats it's customers with true sincere customer service, I thought I'd post this in the MyTouch 3g Slide forum. My future home :)

Okay so the people in the Evo forum, basically downloaded and installed swype beta for android.

here is the link

Swype | Text Input for Screens

I guess once you email them, it takes a while for swype to send you the download link to your email. I got mine within 15 mins though.

Also the program requires that you go to your browser settings and make sure it IS on mobile view... otherwise the download will fail.. you get an error saying your phone is not an android.

Then you have to go and enable an option in your phone, which allows for non secure programs to install. or something like that.
But when I went to do this on my android, I got a warning saying, If I proceed, any program that damages my phone is my responsibility. I don't know if this means your warranty will be void by installing skype, so I stopped there, I never installed it.

So ya, hope my future MyTouch 3g Slide T-mobile family enjoys the program.

If someone else already posted this news here, sorry for the duplicate thread, I did a quick glance and didn't see anyone posting this here.

:)

Quick Edit:

NEVERMIND... I guess you guys all have this on your phone already.

Well the MTS comes with swype already installed. My girls loves it.. but I rather type my words out. I find that I can type 40 words a minute with my thumbs.

Oh. LOL, then I guess this isn't really interesting news to any of you.

How strange though, I was at T-mobile today looking at the MTS, and it had a normal keyboard.

if you dont have a mts, then why are you posting things?

Because i'm returning my evo most likely, and probably getting the free mts on saturday.
Also I was in t-mobile today, playing around with the mts, and I didn't see swype on it, so I made a false assumption that you guys don't have it. I was just trying to help, dang.

Did I post anything rude or nasty, I was thinking I was giving you guys something intersting and possibly helpfull.

I'm most likely getting the phone, so I'm in the mts forum, posting a thread. who the hell cares.

I made a mistake, your phone already has it, so shoot me.

So I am not allowed to post anything in this mts forum, until saturday when I officially have the phone?

It's cool thanks for looking us out. They must have just had the Touch input on... one the MTS you can have Swype, Touch Input, or Dragon Dictation ..

I personally like the Dragon Dictation, Since I'm not the best speller, I'll just say the world and 3 seconds later it pop up on the screen....

@laker666 go easy on the Tmo noob here, lol

Evo, welcome to Tmo, I have been with them since 2001 when they were Voicestream in MN. They have always treated me right! The slide is the best phone I have ever freaking owned period!

Hey, Actually I've been with Tmobile for about 6 yrs myself. I made the unfortunate mistake of switching to Sprint because their rate plan is so cheap. That was the main reason I switched, then the evo came out, and I thought, perfect timing.

Well the evo sucks, and calling SprintPCS customer service is like calling GhettoPCS. I swear almost every rep sounds like they are high on weed, and they are rude. Sometimes they try to be nice, but you can tell it's forced upon them. In contrast, being with Tmobile for all those years, I not once got a rude rep, not ONCE! Tmobiles great kindness and customer service is genuine, it doesn't feel forced from corporate.

So ya, I been gone from Tmobile for about 1 week now, now I realize and appreciate T-mobiles superior customer service even more than ever.

I'm with you man... I can't stand swype... the stock touch board on MTS is fast!!! and very responsive.... had I known that touch screen keyboards could be so responsive I might not have been so hard up to get a phone with a physical keyboard. I think I use the touch input as much as use the slide out qwerty... kinda cool to have all the options.... especially in a package thats not much bigger than the MT3g.

Wasn't trying to be an ass....just search all the threads from now on. If not everyone that had the mts had swype them I'm sure there would already be a thread. Just trying to help cut down the clutter that's all

You should read the zero tolerance policy thread posted by admin.
http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g/98274-zero-tolerance-policy-all-members-read.html

Android Forums doesn not require people to search before asking a question. They were getting complaints from people who came here for help and people were rude to them.
