Well, I figured out how to root ( pretty much to get Darksense installed ). One thing I noticed after rebooting was a lot of fc's and the Power Control widget wouldn't load at all. On inFECT's page there was two ver.1.5's. One was 1.5.adw and the other was just 1.5. Since I have ADW, that's the one I installed. In the changelog it says that 1.5 was optimized for ADW, but there was no mention that there were two different ones. Will this even work on stock 1.6 or should I install the other 1.5 ?

PS. Yay for Nandroid backup !!!

inFECT would probably answer the question correctly, as it's his own theme. Anyway, I think that it's a theme for Galaxo, and that he made versions up to 1.5, which as nothing to do with Android 1.5 or 1.6.

PS: Galaxo is the best that ever happened to my phone. ;)

PPS: Moved to "All Things Root" subforum.

PPPS: You have the custom recovery for nandroid backups, yet no galaxo? Scared of Galaxo bugs?

Correct. Its made for Galaxo and Theme Release Version is 1.5 right now..

Actually, i dont really care that it does not work on a Stock ROM, because if someone is going to root his phone for a theme, there are only few steps more to install Galaxo which is 1000% times better than any available stock roms.

btw: Logcat output of the errors would be nice to have

Awww screw it. I downloaded Galaxo. Now as far as I can figure, all I have to do is rename it to update.zip, go into recovery and apply. Does that sounds right? I have recovery 4.6.2 on it right now if it matters. Do I need to do a wipe as well ?

A wipe is always recommended, but I guess you could try and get away with it (be ready to start over, pull the battery, restore backup, etc). After applying the update.zip, you'll need samsung.tar on your phone to restore the Google apps, ("restore g.apps" in the recovery). Check the guide if you're not sure, the hard part is to get the recovery on your phone so you should not have any problems.

EDIT: Before applying a theme (do so with "Apply any zip"), you'll need to fix package permissions, another option in the recovery.

ok. I must be retarted but I don't seem to have samsung.tar. Must have deleted it when I Odined 1.6. Can I download it somewhere by itself or must I download the entire zip ? Pain the arse doing this with dial-up ...

If the entire zip you're talking about is the one in the stickied guide, well it only contains the said Samsung.tar (compressed to 47Mb instead of 95Mb).

Here is the link, in case you need it.

Good luck (or good wait?) :D

I am re-installing Galaxo for the hell of it. I noticed in the recovery log that there was some unable to extract stuff and it was hinting at Darksense ( it was on the sd card ). Removed all that was not needed and try again I guess.

Found this in the latest failure of restoring g.apps: Erreur de checksum, veuillez verifier la version de votre update

Restore aborted

Problem with Samsung.tar ??

Sure looks like that, Samsung.tar is the only thing used to restore the g.apps (well, besides Galaxo, it has to be restored somewhere...).

If I were you, I'd download the stuff again (corrupt? You could also try another source, although I doubt my stuff is not working), and I'd mess around with wiping, updating, and restoring. That's usually what I do, and it always works out. We'll see what others will say.

Well at this point the worst is that I have to download all my apps via the Market correct ? After another wipe/update/restore, phone boots much better now, but g.apps still fails. Not too heartbroken about the apps right now. Its not like I had paid ones on there ( and I did have a list of what I downloaded ).

EDIT: and now I realize that I don't have Market on the phone. Crap.

I seriously don't understand why it's not working. Just like when I didn't understand why you didn't have the power control widget. This stuff drives me crazy.

Well, keep us posted if you try some stuff or if you get it to work. ;)

EDIT: Looks like you were faster than me and solved it before I finished writing this up!
