Slow Android Market, even on wifi

Android Market is very very slow lately. I need to wait abnormally long for almost everything. But the most frustrating is downloading apps. It's almost like it never actually happens.

I've connected via Wifi, which speeds things up just a little, but I still can't download any apps. On the downloads screen I've got threee aps saying "starting download"... for about 10 minutes now. That's not normal.

I'm using a N1 that's manually updated to Froyo, but not (yet) rooted. I've tried restarting the download; killing and re-launching Market also doesn't help.

Also note that It's been like this for as long as I have the phone (a few months) and I've never used anything but official stock roms. But never before was it *this* slow.

Why is it so slow and how to I speed it up?

I sometimes experience exactly the same. On the plus side, I've just been using iTunes for my iPod and NOTHING is as slow and shit as that!

Hang in there, I've read that Google know about issues with Android Market recently and are working on it. It can only get better...

A sloeg market is fine as long as it still works. But I'm getting network errors on pretty much everything. There's a difference between slow and too slow.

Besides, it's been going on for a couple of days now. They could have fixed it by now, or at least they could undo/rollback whatever they broke.
