Anybody used one of these or had any luck with one?

am looking for a android tablet/netbook to prove to a friend that the iPad isn't all that. I have a HTC Desire and have found many of my iPhone loving friends once they get used to my phone prefer it because you can make it your own etc.

Rockchip 7" tablet

They state that it has two processors to get it upto around 1.1Ghz with a 600mhz ARM9 as the core

but very little about anything else anybody able to clarify the rest of the spec?

Thanks :)

hold out a couple of months. with the upcoming tablets coming out, ipad will be dated in no time. google is coming out with their own, company like Dell will release their 10 inch tablets and kindle / borders are bringing out their ebook readers.

bought one . crap, dont beleive the hype about 1.1ghz, more like 600mhz,slow, constantly crash's. unresponsive, only good thing is it plays video's ok,but volume is pathetic. switches off all the time, battery is crap 30 min if your lucky, and if like me you press slightly too hard, the glass breaks, save your money, difference between this and an ipad is the same as comparing a nokia 3210 to a desire.

Ah, also known as the apad/iped. That's too bad, I had high hopes for that one - they branded it as an iPad competetor and even put up a crazy video about it:

iPad Clone Looks Familiar.. Android Tablets

Actually there are a lot of people that think the Rockchip apads are pretty good, myself included. It does great fullscreen 720 video, there's a way to make the you tube app play full screen, the gmail app is great, has a gsensor so it rotates automatically. Not good for doing A LOT of typing, but for answering a quick email or messaging it's fine. Hardest part is getting used to resistive screen, especially if you're used to an iphone or ipad. I find that using your fingernail to scroll instead of finger tip makes a huge difference. I use Dolphin web browser for the web and its great. Overall the device is snappy, switches between apps real fast, like a second or two.

Bad part is they are cheaply made so there have been quality issues, but if you order from a place you can return it to you're ok. Also there are a bunch of places selling the ones with a via chip and those are really slow, the rockchip ones are fast though. And, there's already a bunch of folks making custom ROMs for them. It has full Android market so I'm using some great free apps, Astro Filemanager, News Express news reader, a wireless on/off widget, etc....

the one i had was a rockchip one, still crap. save your money and get a hauwei or wepad.only thing decent about these irobot things is the video playback, as long as you dont need to hear it.

Whatever....mine works fine with Express News reader app, gmail app, aldiko book reader app, dolphin web browser, you tube app, video app, music app, photo browser, you definitely need ear buds for video or music though. It switches between apps in 1 to 2 seconds, not sure how that can be classified as slow....but we are all entitled to our opinions. Sounds to me from your experience that you got one with a bad battery and or a faulty power jack.

Here's another positive review:

I bought a Pandigital Novel too, which is an ebook reader with android 2.0 and apps for web browsing, email, etc. Personally I think the hardware is good but the software is so bad that I find the thing unsable. There are others that say they have gotten used to it and like it. I can tell you from experience with both that the apad is waaaaayyyy faster and easier to use. I'm gonna hang on to the Pandigital until they come out with another firmware upgrade in hopes that will fix it, or better yet, until someone roots it and we can put plain Android on it.

You probably didn't get a rockchip tablet. There are iRobots out there that are with the VIA chips. Got to be more careful. Unless it specifically says it has the rockchip cpu, i would stay away. Even further, you might want to buy from a place that has the higher quality tablets. Theres so many chinese manufacturers for the same design. Get from a reputable source like www.Dreemusa.com. Of the 5 tablets I bought, theirs was by far the best one. and the crazy thing is, they all look about the same! lol. Be careful.

they are all over ebay and the net. They go by 20 different names. Just make sure it has the rockchip 2808 possessor and the 7" screen, if it has those two things its prob the e7001

Wow you are right there are a ton of these on eBay. Can anyone recommend a specific eBay seller? Most of the ones I have seen all show slightly different specs.

OK, Do you get more than 1 hour of battery life w/ wifi. Can you watch a full movie on yours?

Does your color screen have more than 32,000 12-bit color that doesn't band or have serious dithering. At night, in the pitch dark, does your unit not leak any lights?

720p video will be stretching it but can you play at least 480p SD h.264 video?

Using just your fingers, can you scroll the app drawer without accidentally launching any apps?

Can you guesstimate what your FPS in terms of scrolling the screen and widgets?

Actually there are multiple versions of that style of unit. the issue with China is they will use the same chassis and build 7 different machines. I have multiple apad units and the VIA chip units are not very good as far as processing power.
The Rockchip units are much better but are not true dual core currently but there are dual core units comming out as we speak.
I have some 7" iRobot style units with metal cases the fit and finish are great, I have not had the crappy battery life on any of mine that some people complained about as a matter of fact we get 4-5 hours with WiFi and a whole day without.
Resistive touch screens are not as good looking as capacitive but that is why cost is 80% less than iPad.
new units with capacative touch screens like the iPad are out now but cost is more in line with iPad and we need to wait a few months for 3G, GPS, and other add ons to be completed.
Otherwise do not compare current 100.00 apad to 500.00 iPad it is like companring apples to oranges there is none...
