What changes is Motorola making to the phone?

Can anyone guess what changes is Motorola making to the phone, that is causing the phone release to be delayed?

It would be pretty cool if they put the Dual core Snapdragon Chipset that was Released by Qualcomm. It has the ability to run up to 1.2Ghz per core.:D But this probably isn't the case.

Going from an OMAP to a Snapdragon would require a redesign of the entire PWB (Printed Wiring Board) as the two are not pin compatible. It would also likely require redesign of the VR (Voltage Regulator) since one is a 65nm process while the other is 45nm so likely running on different voltages. Not to mention the amount of firmware and software changes.

Such a drastic change (going from OMAP to Snapdragon) would probably delay it for 6+ months not the 1 or 2 month that has been rumored. (changing the PWB to that extent would require doing all the qualification almost from scratch again. very time consuming)

A more likely change would be to increase the onboard ROM from 2GB to 8GB or similar. Or perhaps increasing the RAM, or change mfg of the display. Something that doesn't require major rework of the PWB or firmware/software.

maybe they are making the back flat rather then the weird design being shown now.

I highly doubt that this will happen, we have saw people with the phone, an I don't think they care if the back is flat now. I was dissapointed at first but this phone looks awesome, so I don't even care anymore. I would assume like some of the previous posters have said, it is probably has to do with the processor 750MHz vs 1 GHz, it might not mean as much as it should, but the common person will be told 1 GHz is the best and they would be a fool to go with a 750MHz phone. I personally think that is stupid but I bet a lot of people are like that, my brother-in-law was saying something about that the other day.

So I would think that is one of the changes if not the only one.

Engadget has had a hands on, AND confirms a 1GHZ CPU. Also confirm a 4.4" screen. Way to big, guess I will be continuing to wait for the Galaxy S.

You do realize that the Galaxy S is the same thickness as the X, is actually slightly wider and is only .19 inches shorter. I wish the X was slightly shorter as well but the Galaxy S is almost the exact same size.

It's funny that you guys are talking about the processor. I was at the last day or two of my Dinc trial period and all this news came out about the Shadow/X. I was contemplating turning my Dinc in and waiting for this bigger phone. The reason I didn't was because of the 750 mhz processor and the MotoBlur, both being negatives, in my opinion.

However, we'll see. The Dinc is a hot property. If the X comes out and it amazing, I can always sell my Dinc and buy the X. Eh, maybe not. I like my Dinc. :)

Just my .02.

Yeah I agree, I was worried but not so much anymore. First thing it now does have the 1GHz processor which I didn't really care either way. The second thing was Blur, but it doesn't seem that bad now. I sold mine a few weeks ago because it was going like hot pockets on ebay, little did I know that it still would. I wish I still had it instead of using a craptastic razor. But I know that I am getting this as soon as it comes out.
