Anybody moved from DC 2.08.1 to anything better?

Hey All,

I have been on Damageless 2.08.1 for months - and from what I've heard about the latest Damegeless updates (and now that he will no longer work on the hero) and the official 2.1 update - it hasn't been good. I was wondering if anybody who has been on 2.08.1 of DC has found anything less buggy (especially with ringer lag), be it Fresh or Darchdroid or whatever... thanks

People that were able to update to DC 2.9, how did you do it? I tired but it went in the boot loop both times I tried.

I use a free google market app called rom manager. It is so quick and easy. Just download the 2.9 zip to your pc, copy it over onto your memory card. Open rom manager, upgrade rom, choose wipe data and you are in bussiness in about 5-15 minutes. It took me 6min.

I've tried Fresh 2.0d, Fresh 2.1.2 and Damage Control 2.08 and this Zen ROM runs more efficiently than any of them. Less hassles, great features, good battery life and everything works correctly as far as I can tell. Great job, Zen.

I thought about the Zen ROM, does it have the lwp? I don't remember seeing anything on there about it. I think that it doesn't, but there is a way to add lwp to it right? I really like the look of the ROM.

Using DC 2.09 atm, no issues, runs great.

EDIT** No lwp and no fix for them atm, from what I could tell by going through 116 pages of that forum, lmao

I've been wanting to try out Darchdroid for a while now, it looks pretty good. The only reason I haven't flashed it yet is because I'm not sure how to get the new RA on my phone (tried pushing it but it still boots 1.6 RA). Looks pretty good, just have to do a little more leg work to get all the fixes. I really want to try a Sense-less ROM since I don't use Sense anymore, and the JIT in Darch would be a nice little bit of lagniappe too.

Ringer lag, as in, outgoing lag or incoming lag? I think you're going to have that outgoing lag no matter what you do, as that seems to be an issue with anything based off the 2.1 update.

My lag is incoming... I see the call, then a few seconds later the ring starts - giving me a few rings to answer a call... I had this problem initially but it seemed to have solved itself after the December update from Sprint... Then didn't notice it on Fresh.

Check out Zen (there's an active thread about it near the top now). My wife's biggest complaint about her Hero was the lag in dialing and answering calls. I rooted her phone and flashed it to Zen today and she has been incredibly happy. She usually couldn't care less about rooting and flashing roms, or really anything to do with customizing phones, but she was very grateful for how well Zen worked for her.

I'm on the fence about flashing over to it myself. It's very fast and stable, but Gmail doesn't autosync with the stock Gmail app, which is a bummer for me. Other than that, everything else seemed to work very well.

+1 on Darchdroid -- been using it for a few weeks and LOVING it. Never realized how much I disliked sense until I went AOSP. This is what it's all about.

To my knowledge, you don't NEED the new RA unless you use a2sd and want to nandroid both your phone and your ext3/4 partition.. So give it a shot, after the flash you'll have around 130mb free for apps anyway.

I really liked Zen when I played with it a while ago. Probably my favorite sense type rom ever. The people who get mt3g slides have a really nice system to work with there.

Has anyone tried this one?
[ROM] Buufed 2.0b (06/19/10) | Overclocked + JIT & fully themed!

I'm really tempted to try it now that I see the changes he's made to it. :D

So I did change to Zen, VERY happy with it. No lwp, but I noticed my battery life is a lot longer now, probably due to the lwp I was using with DC. Only thing that sucks is the People widget doesn't work. I know that Zen was working on it, but I think he hit a brick wall. Other than that, the rom is awesome.
I do have an issue with programs not getting SU rights, I tried to use SetCPU and I couldn't because it just sits and waits for SU.

I know OC Widget works with ZenEXP. If you haven't already, you might want to try that instaed of SetCPU.

Ha! You had me until the no autosync with gmail bit... If it's that good maybe I'll do my gmail via the native app - and give up on automatic notifications.

I tried 2.09.1 of DC too - and like a lot of people I got the random reboot circle. Pulled the battery out five or six time and it would work, but the next time I turned on and off again, same reboot deal... And I gave up, even though a few bugs were fixed - the random reboot was too troublesome to deal with...

Yeah, the Gmail thing was what had me on the fence about it, but I made the leap and I love it. Sure, Gmail doesn't sync like it used to, but most of my notifications are Facebook or purchase responses. I had my work e-mail stop being pushed to Gmail, as we're getting Exchange access next week. I'll just use it directly starting then.

I'm still going to keep an eye out for other good ROMS, but ZenEXP is excellent. If Gmail wasn't broken, I wouldn't have any gripes at all!

I went to Zen EXP - the latest one - it's pretty fast and all, and the no push in GMAIL isn't a big deal. The biggest problem is that I can't use:

Google Finance -it fc's after saying that I need to be signed in with a google account (and I am)

Can't get into mobile network settings.

No Picasa sync like in the lasted DC roms...

I might give it a little longer though... Facebook integrates with people much better in this.
