My Display Is Completely Screwed!

I was sitting at my local Dunn Bros surfing the web on my EVO when I noticed a line that divided the screen in half. If held in the landscape postion the line divided the screen left right and if in portrait upper and lower. As time went on I noticed a lot of off color streaks that ran the length of the screen. Now about an hour later the whole screen is very washed out looking, and no my brightness is not on high either. Text is almost unreadable. It almost looks like when you take a magnet to a CRT screen. And no my EVO has never gotten wet, dropped, or abused in anyway.

Anyone out there eperienced this. It really sucks because I don't have the screen separation issue or any other issues that people are experiencing but now my screen is completely dying.

Sorry to hear, take it back to Sprint or wherever you got it from IMMEDIATELY!!

Since the screen is thin glass, it could of easily been pressed against a surface in your pocket and body and the force could of simply popped a line in the display. The unfortunate.

Take it too Sprint and see about getting another. Sorry about the back-order.

Here are a couple of pics to show you what I mean. This really blows big time. Even though it will be replaced, I still have to wait until Friday and that is assuming that the shipment actually comes in. Right now the EVO is almost unusable. I might call Sprint retentions and see if I can get some type of creidit for the inconvenience. Maybe I can get my EVO tax credited for a month or two.

My wife's phone is doing something that I can't explain. When it goes into sleep mode the phone's screen will not wake up. The only way to get it to come back on is to remove the battery and restart it. Called BB but they don't have any in stock and don't have any info when it will. Called Sprint but they told me to take it to BB. BB wants to send it out for repair, told 14 days minimum. That would take me past the 30 day return period. Not sure what to do.

If I had to part with my phone for 14 days, I'd be on the phone with Sprint retentions demanding a credit for the inconvenience.

They got my exchange phone in and I exchanged yesterday 6/17. The new phone is HW0003 and I don't notice any physical issues with construction yet. I've only played with it a few hours getting it customized back to the same settings as my broken phone. The folks in the Mobile Dept at my BB were very nice and want to make sure I'm happy with my phone. They have me on the list for the next shipment to get my wife's phone exchanged for the screen separation issue. Maybe today they said.

Just return (not exchange) it to Best Buy. Then go to a Sprint store and purchase the phone.

Why? What's the difference?

I agree with mcnutty. Return the phone for a full refund. I would put your name on back order lists at BB (but insist on no deposit) and Sprint and just buy a new one at the first store to get some in.

The reason this is the best idea is because BB will not get you a new phone in 14 days. They send it back to HTC for repair and chances are you will not see your phone for a month. After 30 days they will finally cancel the repair and give you a new phone. However, who is to say they even have any in 30 days? I wouldn't risk it. If its a manufacturing defect and you wait till after 30 days, go to a sprint store. I would only use best buy for repair if its 1. Your fault (w/ insurance) or 2. after 1 year (w/ insurance). Otherwise your wife will be stuck with a crappy loaner phone for 30 days when most likely she can return it and buy a new one sooner then that.

My BB had a replacemnt for the phone that died the next day. I have 2 BB stores in my town of 80,000 people so there isn't the stampede for phones that people in larger urban areas have experienced.

I've already exhanged one bad phone and will be exchanging the other hopefully today. If I have problems that aren't affecting the operation of the phone I am going to wait a while for a new batch to be manufactured and use my TEP.

As far as the BB insurance goes, yes if one buys the cheap ie 9.99 plan then their phone gets sent away, but if one buys the premium ie 14.99 plan then they get a new one.
