Access PC from Phone

if you get gmote on the phone and install the server app on the pc, you can use your phone as a wireless mouse/trackpad and keyboard, and also play music directly on the pc using controls on the phone, or (and this is the clever bit), you can play the music stored on the pc through the phone!

also the app FTPserver can be used to wirelessly transfer any file to the phone.

Does that extend to mapped network drives?

There's an app called Jukefly that's specifically for streaming music - I think you install the app and a server app on your PC, sign up for an account (IIRC it's free - the account is basically so the PC can tell your mobile device what your IP is, to get around dynamic IPs) and you can access your music from your phone, or any other mobile device (laptops, friends' PCs, etc).

Can't say if it's any good but it sounds like it might be the thing.

I'm not sure, i havent tried that.
Its free though, so give it a go and let us know :D
works really well on a direct wireless connection.

I haven't either but with gmote you specify where your files are stored using the serverside app on the PC so in theory yes this will work, you add the network drive the same way you do the music folder on C

If you are using over a home network can I suggest ES File Explorer. It is a well featured file explorer for your phone that you can also use to access shared folders/drives on your network making it really easy to stream music or videos etc. onto your phone.

Ben

Yeah, i've just set that up and works a treat. Now i'm looking to set this up whilst not on Wi-Fi.

* What would be nice with ES is that you would be asked with what software you would like to watch/listen the file with. Because it does not recognise AVI files. So essentially i would select RockPlayer and be able to watch my boxing or similar.

I've got it sorted now. I thought HomePipe was the app and LogMeIn the server. Fail!

So i've got HomePipe app on the phone and Homepipe server running on the PC and it does exactly what i was after. Can view photos from my PC and transfer files from the PC to the phone.

EXCEPT!.... I've just found the limitation of the Lite version, it's root folder is hard-coded to the My Documents and doesn't recognise shortcuts, so i cannot access my music/movies. :(

If you log into the home pipe website you can add more folders or drives from there.

Edit:

Too late lol

I was thinking exactly the same thing yesterday, app select has to be in the next build, I can't imagine it would be that hard to implement?
