Hello, i am getting a new phone tomorrow, and i am stuck between the Motorola Droid and Droid Eris. Can anybody please explain to me if the Eris is better and why, than the droid. Thank you.
Your best bet is to go to the store and play around with both of them. I personally have the Droid and like it alot better than the Eris. For me it was a no brainer to go to the 2.0 android!
I agree with the personal thing.
For me, the big screen and Android 2.0 couldn't overcome the blocky feel and kludgy keyboard of the droid.
I love the Droid and never thought I would need the physical QWERTY but after a couple of days getting used to it, I'll never go back to touch screen only keyboards.
My advice, play around with both, see what you like, and remember that you have 30 days to return the phone if it does not work out for you.
So, are you saying that the Eris is better? I don't understand what you said when you wrote the screen and Android 2.0 couldn't overcome the blocky feel and kludgy keyboard of the droid.
I tried both the Motorola and the HTC. I bought the HTC. Eris in my personal experience was a far superior device than the motorola. It was responsive, functional, and well tuned. I give it as a iPhone like experience. If I were Verizon I would have pushed Eris much more than Motorola and it would be my pick for an iPhone contender.
The motorola to me was flimsy, slow, choppy, and unimpressive compared to the Eris. I spent around 5 minutes with the motorola droid and about 1 minutes with Eris.
If I were you try both and I would guess you would go with the Eris. It's an exceptional phone. HTC did a VERY good job on Sense UI and upgrading the hardware to match the experience.
After about 1 day of use I've fell completely in love with my phone. No regrets over bypassing the Motorola. I mean, I downloaded the NAV4ALL app and I get free turn by turn NAV. So it's no big deal. Although HTC is planning on releasing Android 2.0 for the Eris once they've tuned it perfectly so it will have google nav eventually.
There is no way the motorola is flimsy. I am very happy with the video quality of the droid and the recording of the videos is amazing for being a phone. My brother has the hero and there is pretty much no reason for me to want that phone so to me droid wins.
The volume rocker was plasticky and extremely loose--felt like it would fall off after a few months..
