stuck at "starting download"...

I can browse the internet fine, i can use any app that uses the internet like facebook, youtube, etc. I can even browse the android market fine. Its just stuck at "starting download". I really dont want to reset my phone.
I've tryed:
- restarting
- Turning off and on data connections ( both 3g and wifi )
- Clearing any google cache
- google talk
- deleting apps ( if its a space issue )
- canceling and restarting downloads
- have it attempt to download for 24+ hours
None of these worked. it seems reseting the phone is the last option. I have the Sony Xperia X10. Has anyone with that phone resolved the issue? Is it even the phone that's causing the issue? maybe the market itself is buggy. I really don't know what to do. Please help.

Have you recently changed your email adress from Googlemail to gmail.com? If you have then that is the issue, options are that you hard reset your phone or switch back to googlemail.

Having the same problem.

How do you clear the goggle Cache and cancel downloads?
My downloads appear stuck with no way to either stop or delete them.

I registered under gmail in the begining. didn't even know there was a googlemail before i researched my problem.

gmail cache was empty but Market was not. clear it and will check later or when I have a very good wifi connection.

I recently uninstalled google talk and other related apps.(With Titanium Back up)
If you did to, just restore it!
Works for me!

I'm having the same problem. I just rooted yesterday. Could it be root-related? Are yours rooted also?

I'm hving the same problem.. hve you found a solution? I rencently rooted my phone.. xperia x8.. i hope its not root related..

oh i've done it! I have done it! the google talk thing actually helps, although you have to reboot your phone after youv restored it then log in to it, and everything is okii dokii
