Help Bellsouth Email Settings?

I had the same issues with my Bellsouth email. I in fact, had the SAME problems with my last mobile device (T-Mobile Dash). I could set it up and receive emails but never could send regardless of what setting combination I set.. I never had the issue until AT&T took over Bellsouth so I'm convinced that has something to do with contrary to what their customer service will tell you. What I did was pretty much give up on Bellsouth and switch to gMail. I know this doesn't help your issue, but just wanted you to know you aren't the only one unable to set up Bellsouth email on your G1.

I just successfully connected my Droid X Verizon service to the the bellsouth server and got it to send mail as well successfully. I used the incoming server pop.att.yahoo.com port 995; outgoing server smtp.att.yahoo.com port 465; I selected Use secure connection and Verify Certificate on the incoming server. I selected on the Use secure connection on the outgoing server. When the Verify Certificate was selected, it failed. I hope this helps.

Ok I don't know if you found the answer but here it is anyway. The trick is to put all of your incoming information in as if you are receiveing the emails. Email address, password and server name. Now when you get to the outgoing part you need to enter your existing ATT or Bellsouth email address, password and server name. I don't know why this works but it does.

Just got this up and running for a friend using a Samsung Captivate. No problems at all. Of course Bellsouth/ATT does not use the standard server address or ports that come up in the phone. You must manually change those address and ports in order for it to connect to the server. Otherwise you will get an error.

The second thing I noticed is that it would not pull off existing emails from the server, but any new emails would show up. "Load More Messages" didn't pull any of the old email. My friend was fine with this as he was really just excited to be able to get new emails and notifications on that email address.

I converted over to AT&T internet when I got my smartphone a few months ago and was told by the tech that I wouldn't have to change anything in the settings. I had no issues sending or recieving mail until yesterday. On my pc I can recieve but not send and it is the opposite on my phone. If I go in and switch my servers etc like the post above will all of my current mail be lost?

...EDIT...Nevermind, I got it all working now and didn't loose anything.
