Aria deals

Never realized Wirefly would charge you up to $300 if you cancel after 30 days. So that means you have to pay $300 plus the ETF from the carrier. Best Buy Mobile is a whole other part of Best Buy and they have different price matching policies. Best Buy only price matches actual stores within a certain radius of their location, but BBYM will price match anyone. We price match Wirefly like every other day it seems like.

Shame there aren't any BBYMs here in UT :(

That is only for 181 days if you look at the contract. It is the same deal that best buy uses. What happens is they get a kickback at 6 months so they make you guarentee you will keep the service for 6 months +1 day.

My biggest complaint on the Aria's price is that it should be free with the new ETF of $325. This phone is a rip off on contract really since it is $380 off contract.

only if you plan on terminating early... if your not i think 130 is acceptable for a 600 MHz 2.1 device

Not sure I understand this, but what is BBYM?

Compare $130 for a 3.2 in screen 600Mhz processor to any of the higher end android handset. $199 for 3.7-4.3 in screen and 1Ghz processor. It is a rip off or do you think the other phones are priced too low?
And what is the purpose of the ETF? To help pay for the subsidized phone if you leave the contract. Well in this case you would pay more than the buyout until the 8 month mark and even canceling at the 20 month the savings over buying the phone outright would be $120.
Compare that to the iphone and buying it for $199 and paying the ETF in the second month would be $514 or a savings of $85 over full retail of $599 for a 16gb model.
Yes this only goes into effect if the contract is broken but the numbers should still add up and in this case they do not.
Bottom line is with the increase of the ETF the subsidized price for the Aria is too high. The buyout price is at a good price point.

Where did you get this info. I've had several customers end their contract after the 30 day mark and less than 6 months and all they get charged for is the usual ETF. NOWHERE in anything they sign does it say that Best Buy will charge them. I will have to ask my manager if this is true or not, but I would imagine atleast one customer would have come back to complain about that giant bill.

Thinkblue, I said Best Buy only pricematches local stores, but Best Buy Mobile will price match anyone. Only the cell phone department.

Now back to the wirefly charge. I forgot to ask, is that 2-300 dollars on top of what the carrier will charge you, so you'd have to pay around $500-$700 in fee's???

Yeah, basically it's double the ETF. Like someone said it's because that's how Wirefly makes it's money is with kickbacks from the carriers.

Have you seen the Aria? Much nicer than I expected, and the processor seems to breeze through multitasking, browsing, video. Maybe it just takes less power to drive that smaller screen. AT&T has a hit on their hands here. I bet the battery life is superior to the bigger phones too.

The Wirefly deal is awesome. Go to Bing.com, search "Wirefly," and click on the link to get $50 Bing cashback per phone plus the free Aria and free activation from AT&T. In my experience, they ship super fast. No need to pay for overnight shipping.

FYI Wirefly doesn't make its money on the ETF. They make the money on the AT&T commissions and residuals, which AT&T retracts if you cancel within 6 months. If you really don't want to keep your plan for six months, then don't sign a contract.

Best Buy might have changed the way they are doing it now this was 10 years ago maybe even abit more that they were working this way.
But all the online sites that sell the phones less than the carrier it is how they make money. They get a kickback if the customers stays with the carrier for 6 months.

Hehe... when I said it's how Wirefly makes their money I didn't mean with ETFs I just meant selling contracts/extensions to people is how they make their money which is how they justify their own ETF.

I also have had a good experience with Wirefly, purchased some phones from them several years ago and everything went very smoothly.

Saw this this morning and it kind of irked me, but I can see the perks of dealing locally and buying the phone over adding conditions, especially for someone like me who is essentially testing the phone and carrier before deciding to stick or jump ship.

I don't think $130 is bad for this phone. I do think the other phones are heavily underpriced. Of course, I realize the contracts are the real meat and potatoes here (for them), but most people these days don't plan on getting rid of their cell plan anytime soon, so the "reduced price" is pretty much the retail as far as I'm concerned. Even the deductible you have to pay to get a new one after you **** it up is on par with the "reduced" price (if you are paying for insurance, which probably only makes sense to do for as long as the actual retail cost of the phone is significant).

But if you're sold on this phone and know what you're getting yourself into, finding any deal you can is worth it. I know that just here locally BJ's was offering me all sorts of perks over the Verizon store which is literally across the street (they would have matched V's instant rebate, waived activation fee, and give $50 store credit) .
