For people putting HD videos on their Evo, or any video at all... need some suggestions/help.

I want to convert a few of my HD videos so that they still look really good on the Evo and so they'll still look really good once once it's playing through HDMI from the phone, and to a big tv.

Can anyone suggest a program or anything that they use to put videos onto their Evo, and also what setting is the best quality video I can get playing on the phone and through HDMI.

search the forums for handbrake ...you'll get all the best settings you want.

For .avi files use Rock(divx)Player
For .mp4 use stock player

Theres a whole 5 page thread on how to convert with handbrake. If you are just going to watch on the phone, use 800x480 resolution. If you are going to output to a tv, use 1280x720 resolution.

Cucusoft Video Converter, screen res (1280x720) meaning native 720p, i converted 5 episodes of LOST, and they played back FLAWLESSLY, audio in sync and picture was perfect in .mp4, used the stock player too. No 800x480, it would downgrade picture quality a little, leave HD content at 1280x720 for a true quality, for SD content leave it at 800x480.

Out of curiosity, are you seeing any visual differences between playback for 720p or 480p on the evo itself? I only changed my hd movies to 800x480 for playback on the evo, but now I'm reconsidering that.

On my TV, I keep getting "mode not supported" for any video that isn't 1280x720

I have playef 720p movies on the evo itself, its not necessary to connect it to the tv. Though thru hdmi it shud play fine, check the tv, the screen doesnt show until after u start playing, make sure ur using the stock android video player

for content to stay in its original resolution. 720p shudnt be converted to 480p, and 480p shudnt be upscaled to 720p
