Anyone swapping for the DX in July?

So with the news that VZW seems to be phasing out the Droid Incredible already. Is anyone going to trade theirs in for the Droid X?

I was able to terminate my contract for free since I got a shitty Droid Incredible and the crappy Antenna makes it useless for internet usage so I'm thinking the Droid X looks like a better replacement.

OMG!!

People have got to stop perpetuating this nonsense!

There is no news that the Incredible is being phased out! There was a very stupid rumor, based on some very BAD information tossed out by a Moto owner that was picked up by an irresponsible blogger who did zero research to confirm!

It has already been debunked as a simple sku change!!

If you got a bad phone and your moving on, great I wish you luck!

The news sites that are posting that list these forums as their source. The original source has not given us anything other than that picture. A few things about that though, at the top is a part number for a usb wifi device, and has devices listed under it which are compatible. They are probably phasing out that wifi device only. Also, it could be they are phasing out that sku as a new one has been generated for Incredibles with the new packaging (with HTC Droid Incredible on the front instead of just HTC Incredible).

With the device having only been out for just under two months, I seriously doubt that they are giving it end of life just yet. It's had less problems than the Eris and that was phased out just recently (after 6 months). The only other reasons to phase out the Incredible is the screen shortage and if it wasn't selling. If the screen shortage was the reason, the EVO and even (as of news today) the iPhone4 would be looking at the same issue. We haven't seen the screen shortage become an issue until after these phones launch, so Moto's droid offerings could end up with the same problem. As far as sales, the KIN1 & 2 reportedly have only sold around 500 units. If they have not been given EOL, I can't imagine the Incredible will be either.

I'm not trying to keep you on an Incredible, if you don't like it switch to the Moto. But the more people keep bringing up the Incredible EOL rumor, others start seeing it as fact (like a Verizon iPhone). If the OP who posted the pic of the document could have done something else to substantiate the rumor, I'd probably believe it. As such the document could have been made on someone's PC with a spreadsheet program and about 5 minutes of time.

I love the rumor cycle.

1) Poster on here puts up something he heard from somewhere.

2) Forums go bananas with hearsay and conjecture.

3) Major Android sites pick up the "story".

4) Posters on here refer to the story from the major sites, which themselves source the forum.

The Inc isn't going anywhere. Verizon would have to be braindead and ******ed to phase out a phone that sold out within days only two months after it was released. It'd be like if theaters abruptly stopped showing Avatar a month after it opened.

how did you get out of contract?
I will be moving to the Droid X most likely. My experience every droid Verizon offers has the signal issue (bought several).

I was passed my 30 days grace period to return the phone but after I took it to the store and pointed out the many hardware failures and the fact that I was getting 20kbps with perfect 3G signal they said they would terminate the contract and replace my phone with the next batch of DIs on June 24th. So my new 30 day grace period starts when I receive the new DI and go to the Verizon store and sign for it.

Then i'll take it back and exchange for the DX, my coworkers Moto Droid works just fine mine gets no signal when they are side by side. I dont even get signal if its cloudy out.

But maybe half the reason they are selling out is because half of the DI owners are requesting replacements. I'm assuming they haven't fixed anything with the antenna in the new batches or I just got super lucky and received a unit which didn't pass QA but shipped anyway. I mean I love the phone but it's useless if I cant even stream 32kbit internet radio streams while in the capital of the U.S.

Once again, pure hearsay and conjecture, aside from being a completely nonsensical statement. They sold out INSTANTLY, unless you think people were requesting replacements en masse within a day of release.

You got a bad Inc. Mine is awesome, so are the millions of others. All this bitching about how the Inc is shoddy makes me go crosseyed, there is NO information out there that says the Inc has failure or bug rates any higher than any other phone. Period.

Ok first off this is your deal so you do what is best for you!
That said, why not wait till the replacement comes before you jump off the ledge?

Now, I don't know you and could very well be wrong, but it sounds a little like you have talked yourself out of the Incredible or rather talked yourself into the MotoX.

So because you have a buggy Inc you're going to change devices.

Come on, people, be smart. If you have a lemon, get it replaced, and then if you dislike a WORKING Inc you can replace it. Swapping phones out because you got one that doesn't work right is just dumb.

I totally agree! And another dumb thing, IMHO, is to be too impatient and insisting on getting a brand new, untried, possibly buggy because it IS brand new, phone and then complain about it. Unfortunately, most phones are rarely perfect right out of the gate. However, the impatient people are doing the rest of us a nice service by finding the bugs and getting them fixed. I will just bide my time, wait and watch, and will ultimately switch to a different and better phone after all the glitches are worked out, thank you very much. :p

EDIT: That sounded like I am not completely happy with my DI and that is NOT true. I love my Incredible and will not be switching to any other phone 'til I can upgrade... and maybe not even then! BTW, even though my antenna signal doesn't necessarily show on my DI, I am getting FAR better signal on this wonderful phone than I have had on any other cell phone I've owned - except maybe my original bag phone from almost 20 years ago. :D

You're defending the DI like some kind of Iphone dweeb. IMHO an Android phone is an Android phone. Only difference between the two phones is the specs which look better on the DX and some added features.
There are little to no "spec increases" aside from a bigger screen, hdmi out, and 720p recording.

Now the big difference between them is sense vs new version of blur.
Sense has been called the favorite skin of android by dozens of reviewers. Blur? Not so much. If you want the DX, go for it. Have fun. I'm loving my incredible.

I actually find the biggest improvment is the processor , the phone should be a little faster while using less energy. Along with Motorolas battery managment (dont' know if it does what it says as of now) could give the phone better performance and much better battery life then the DI

Hold the phone, the "official (secret)" Twitter page just stated it is a snapdragon!!

Not sure how reliable that is, but it just goes to show that we may not know for certain till before the launch...I just posted this in another thread but remember when we thought the Inc was gonna be under-clocked.

I didn't see it as that. I saw it more as another poster came back with equal opposition with your standpoint and (mis)information/speculations

That said.. I'm still on the fence on it. I'm probably going to stay on Incred, for sure if what has been said on their Twitter is true (Droid X has Snapdragon). My Incred has served me very well so far and shows no signs of that changing any time (knock on wood). Even if Increds were to be phased out (in my mind, most phones are already on their way to be phased out after their release), I don't really care seeing how the phone works perfectly fine and there are already plentiful accessories out there.

Really, I heard from my father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate who is an engineer at Motorola that the Droid X will have the yet unseen Neutron processor (10x faster than snapdragon) and runs on magic and dreams (to save battery and compete with the iPhone). I think this is a pretty reliable source so reserve one as soon as you can!;)

See how this stuff starts!

Edit: I know the above sounds ridiculous but it's not far from some of the things we've heard.
Not a shot at your post jayjay, just the whole rumor mill thing in general.

Verizon it's not phasing the Dinc, get your facts straight.

And no I won't be switching my Dinc but for my Droid I think I will.
