Battery issues

Apparently, this is a big issue with this phone and it's a real shame because it's pretty much perfect in every other aspect I have seen.

I have done every tip and tweak out there. All background syncing is off except for my email which is the only thing I like to have as it comes in. I take off all things when not in use and make sure all the radios not in use are off. I have formatted the Sd card and even set my prl to cdma auto (it was on gsm) but this did not help. I don't know what else to do.

I love the phone but what good is it if its dying the second I unplug it from the charger? I barely used the phone today while at work and by 5pm my phone is in the low 60% range. 40% battery gone just in idle. Imagine if I actually use the phone??

Is this normal battery consumption for this phone? On my Iphone I could txt, browse the net and email a full work day before needing a charge. I could accept similar results but I think this phone would die in just a couple of hours of the same type of use.

Any suggestions?

Go to Sprint and ask for a replacement battery. If that does not work; get a new phone. My phone lasts about 15-16 hours on a charge with about 1 hour of calls, 10-20 text messages, gmail, and exchage accounts, and everything else set to sync but the news, and stocks. If I barely use it; the phone lasts for more than 24 hours.

Something is wrong if that is just from idleing. There is a program you can run that will monitor your device when it idleing and it will tell you what is using it's resources.......Don't have my phone in front of me and can't remember the name.......Someone will jump in with the program name.

Try disabling the screen autorotate for a test. Not an ideal solution, but something to try.

Menu -> Settings -> Sound & Display -> Display Settings/Orientation

My post about it: EVO battery usage ... solved?

The first few days, I was getting 12-13 hours on VERY limited use. Now, I am getting 6 to 8 of very limited use. Yesterday, it completely died within 7 hours and all I did was check it ocassionally....80% idle.

I love the phone but should not have to charge it in the middle of the day after only 2 quick phone calls and a few texts. I have tried all of the fixes, too. I am going to keep it and just got my car charger, but I really should be able to actively use the phone before it dies.

I did the formatting my sd card trick and charged overnight. I then took it off saturday morning. I had updates on and syncing. I got 31 hrs and 47 minutes of uptime when it hit 15%. This is by far the most time it has lasted! I didnt baby it at all, i browsed and played, texted my youth group(15) at one time a few times in that time. It worked great for me. The only other thing i have is the program called Startup Auditor and killed the programs that i dont use on startup, ie: nascar, nfl, peep. I had not gotten this much time until i reformatted my card. Hope it helps someone else!

I put a call into Sprint to have this issue noted on my account. Sprint tech said, that my battery issue doesn't sound normal. They had me change the roaming to Sprint Only mode since that would be the only thing the tech thought could be happening during an idle period.

I was told of it didn't help I should go back to a Sprint store for a replacement.

I tried the SD card tip with no improvement.
