automatically back up contacts to your gmail?

I could have sworn that I read somewhere it did..along with phone settings and a few other random things..

I was playing with the evo at work and didn't notice any option to back them up via gmail..

It automatically backsup those info. If you go into Google...*thinks* contacts (don't remember exactly), you'll have your phone contacts on there. I played with this once when I had to merge duplicate contacts via Gmail.

i thought so.. I remembered hearing it can do a number of things... which slip my mind now x.x

I just don't have enough time to play with the evo I guess..

Either way then.. if I get a nexus I will be able to use the contacts I have in my gmail and download them to the phone.. so.. wonderful. thanks.

Yes you can using Auto Sync to sync your contact from Phone to Gmail and Gmail to Phone. It's great features for backup.

Add a contact to Gmail and it will be on your N1 more or less instantly.

same w/ calendar and it goes both ways...

add on phone or pc and it ends up in both.

Everything getting backed up automatically to my google account is one of my favourite android features. Like someone said, it happens instantly. No fannying around waiting for it to happen once a day or on a force sync. It just happens. Like magic.
