Anyone here have or had the Droid before getting the incredible?

I have a droid now, and am totally in love with it. But I am ready for an upgrade. I got a free upgrade to the incredible from VZW so I took it. Anyway, site unseen I ordered it and am patiently waiting for the 30th when its supposed to arrive. Well in the mean time I have went to 2 different vzw stores to see the incredible for the first time. Needless to say I was a little dissapointed when I saw the screen. This is why I went to a second store. Both Inc's screens looked a little grainey and dull. Not the finish on the screen, but the pixels themselves. It looked like I was looking at the phone through a screen door screen. Please tell me that this was because maybe the brightness was way down or something. Because basicly, my droid screen looks 10x smoother and clearer than those in the stores. Im hoping that when I get mine, and have time to mess with it that will change. It was kind of a let down. Anyone else notice this that came from owning a droid?

I had the Droid and the Eris before the Incredible . Neither screen was anywhere near as clear as my Incredible Screen . And neither of them were even remotely close to as smooth as the Incredible.

Things I liked better about the Droid was it was a tank compared to the Incredible and it had slightly better battery life , better dock options and had a louder speaker phone.

The Eris was the best looking ,super sleek and had a fantstic trackball for my phonemypc usage . Besides being a big underperformer I actually perfered the Eris over the Droid

i had a droid before my inc. i miss the nighttime dock but nothing else. i got the extended battery so my battery life of course kills the droid, but i've heard stock battery life is not as good. but this phone absolutely kills the droid on speed and responsiveness. i absolutely love sense but even if you don't like it as much as the vanilla android, you can just use something like launcher pro. but i love the sense widgets. the screen res seems great to me. i don't feel like it's pixelated or grainy. i could not be happier about switching. i think about 10 minutes on your new inc will be enough to make you pretty happy.coming from the droid as my first smart phone, i was blown away by the difference.

My wife has the Droid and had it for over 6 months before I got the Incredible. The Incredible's display is much more impressive.

What you're describing is surprising since most of the reviews I've read actually say that if anything the screen is maybe a little too bright and the colors are too saturated.

If you go back to a store to check it out, you can adjust the brightness without installing a new widget to a home screen. Go to Menu > Settings > Sound & Display > Brightness and crank it up.

If it still looks dull, then maybe some other customers have smeared mud on the screen?

I had the MOTO Droid before the incredible and for me the inc is wayyyyyy better. Sense is awesome and I think the overall smoothness of the phone is fantastic. I think the MOTO was a bit laggy and the touchscreen isn't as fluid as the incredibles.
This is true if your droid was stock. Mine is running a custom froyo rom and overclocked to 1ghz. Its smoking fast, with no hint of lag. When I was at the store, I downloaded a cpu benchmark on the vzw inc, the same one I have on my droid. I rebooted the inc and ran the test on it, same as mine. The inc ran the benchmark at 1145ms, and my droid did it in 757ms. BTW, lower is better/faster. I will have to wait until the incredible can be overclocked to see what it can really do, but as for now my droid is faster, has the newest software and has a nicer looking screen...to me atleast. I just really need to play with the new one for a few days to see what I think, but I would not pay for this phone thats for sure.

Edit, and I did not pay for it. I called verizon to see if they would send me a free incredible and they agreed.

Sounds like you already have your mind made up, if you're so happy with your Droid why even get an Incredible??

I knew someone was going to say this. I already said in my last post that I got it for free, so WHY NOT? Not only that, but again like I said above, it was ordered sight unseen. It was only after that I went to the verizon store to actually play with it. I was just wondering if maybe the display models were messed up or something, but it looks like its not just me. If I like it after a few days or so, then I will keep it and sell the droid. If not, then I didnt spend a cent to find out that I need to wait for the Droid X.

Sorry missed your post saying you got it for free, that's awesome. A lot of people are having a hard time getting them in general. You could probably even sell it on Craigslist or Ebay if you don't end up liking it.

I was curious about the CPU Benchmark so I downloaded it and was getting mid 900s . I have heard that FROYO does a better job of using memory and is supose to make the phone much quicker , and will also give the Incredible full access to all the onboard ram and rom. Hoping that will make it even more snappy.
My droid and Eris were both stock so that's all I have to compare my Incredible to.

Also if you get an Incredible and you liked your Droid , dump Sense it's one of the first things I did. Can't stand Sense , mainly the stupid phone and menu buttons on the bottom lol

I was going to miss the nav mount for the car I have for the droid, but I found out that there is a similar one made for the inc. That is such a huge relief. I use my phone for nav, music and talking all hands free through the headphone jack. And it sucks to put the phone in the cub holder and be able to interact with it safely while driving.

I have a friend who has the moto droid. She asked me to fix it up to look more like mine (had no idea what launcher pro was, beautiful home, etc) so while I was toying with I noticed how much I actually disliked the stock android response time when it comes to scrolling through home screens/app. Not only that, but its inability to turn the back light off individual pixels made it mildly annoying on black screens. It just felt like every color was overlapping.
