K-9 Mail Questions

I've been using K-9 Mail on my Incredible for a couple of weeks but have a few questions about its features.

1. Notifications--I get the new mail notifications in the notification bar but they don't clear themselves once I've read the new emails. I have to separately go to the notifications bar to clear the new mail notifications. Is there anyway to get the notifications to clear automatically?

2. When I delete messages it tends to download old messages from the server to fill the inbox back to 25 messages. Is there anyway to prevent that?

3. What are folder classes?

Thanks...

What I do is click the notification alert. This opens the current email and clears the alert from the notification area.

To prevent this you need to go into your account setting in k9. There you can specify how many and how large a header file to download.

3. What are folder classes?

Sorry not sure what this is.

I'd also like to know how to pull up previously read email. When new mail comes in, it bumps old mail off the screen. Since my children are in sports, I get a lot of email from coaches explaining the weeks activities. Sometimes I like to refer back to those emails but once they get bumped, I don't know how to get them back. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have three email accounts. Doing that clears one of them but not the other one (or two) that might have new messages waiting.

I'm not getting it. It keeps the last X-messages but seems to be syncing with the online server. When I delete one, i.e. a spam message, it goes and re-downloads older, already read message. It's not acting like an inbox would in a typical POP3 client. If this behavior is what's intended, I'm not understanding why.

Miscellaneous answers:
-disable stock email client by longpressing account and deleting it. don't worry about Email loading on startup and sitting idly in the background
-if the alert doesn't clear from the status bar, I'm guessing it's a bug. Submit a bug to the K9 google code site
-K9 (and the Gmail app) don't "want" to download all of the mail from your server from years past. That's a lot of data to put on your phone! Instead, they are set up by default to only download some of your mail history. You can set the number of messages to display on the screen. Default is 25. You can set the length of time to sync...even set it up to sync "since the dawn of time".
-click the "show next 25" at the bottom of your inbox to see more mail. You may have to go to the individual account inbox instead of the Integrated inbox to do this.

Other ways to get mail:
-forward mail to gmail and use the Gmail app
-have gmail.com check your other email account
-Maildroid
-Touchdown for Exchange servers

I have exactly the same problem and have found no answer. I want to refer back to previous e-mails I have read on my Droid and left them there, but as soon as a new e-mail arrives, they disappear.

Can everyone else see their old e-mails?

I don't think there are any spell checks for any cell apps. I imagine that the utilty would take up more space than most folks will want.

Perhaps there is a 3rd party plug in in the Market that can be hosted on the SD Card.

I don't want to type THAT much stuff on my phone. If I type so much that I require a spell check, then I'd be better off typing a msg on my computer. But frankly, even with spell check, I still often have extra words in there from revising a sentence. Spell check would never catch my errors, I need grammar check!
