1-year contract for Verizon

One thing I've been unclear about regarding the upgrade-every-year type deals is that it seems like you're exponentially increasing your contract length and in 3 or 4 years, you could have a contract that won't expire for 5+ years.

Is that true? It seems that at some point, you have to pay the piper.

No, it just resets to two-years from the new purchase date. The new every two program allows you to upgrade annually (which you can do even earlier over the phone). But by taking an annual upgrade, you forfeit the extra discount (on top of the two year price) that they would give you ever 20 months.

i'm with you.i know darn well that in 12 months i'll want a new one so i'm only signing for 1 year. :)

If you plan to stay with Verizon, then it won't matter. As stated in the other thread similar to this, Verizon will let you upgrade every year. They have 2 upgrade programs. New Every 2 and Annual Upgrade.
NE2 = Discount + advertised contract price
Annual Upgrade = advertised contract price*

*Annual upgrades reset the NE2, and you are required to extend your contract. So if you have 1 year left, you upgrade and you are back on a 2 year contract (has to be a 2 year). But you will not go from 1 year contract to 3 year, doesn't work that way.

It's not NE2 that allows you an annual upgrade, its being on a 60+ calling plan. Data, text, any other features do not count towards the 60 dollars unless it is all bundled into the plan. If the features are added alacart then you SOL.

NE2 = 100/50 instant discount + 2yr renewal price. (the 100/50 is changed to 50/30 going forward but most people haven't upgraded since the change). Also, you have to do a 2yr contract to get a NE2 discount.

Annual = 1yr or 2yr discount price with 20 annual upgrade fee if done in store or over phone but waived if done online. If your account is a VIP account you can still get the 20 waved in store, online, telesales and get an additional 50 off, but you have to request the credit since we are doing away with VIP since it cost us so much money.

Also like stated, whenever you do an upgrade, be it a 1yr or 2yr, it starts your contract over and drops off any remaining time from your previous contract.

Oh yeah, I forgot that when you do an Annual Upgrade, you are also required to have a plan that is at least 49.99 (maybe its 59.99, I haven't looked lately). Shouldn't be an issue for a droid owner though lol.

The annual upgrade requires a base plan of atleast $79.99, before discounts. it doesnt include data. however if your base plan includes texts or anything else a base plan can include, those count.

It's 60 dollars...I work for Verizon.
