for signing a year contract for internet service my cable provider sent me a $300 best buy gift card. I was thinking about getting the PS3 but I have so many games and so much invested in my 360 (my other toys are guns and motorcycles) i really didnt feel starting another game collection for the PS3 was wise so I went ahead and got the 360 slim. I really like it. Its really quiet, 250 gigs is an insane amount of storage space, the built in networking is just like the adaptor, easy to set up. Apparantly it has built in temp sensors that auto shut down the unit as a fail safe which is pretty nice to.

All in all my only complaint is that all my accessories (battery packs, message pad, etc) are all white, lol...

Did you test out the temp sensors? Is that how you found out about it?

It's funny b/c my plug and play kit died out so I went to buy another one and they only had black plug and play kits so now I have a black battery pack. I also have the 360 ELITE 120GB HDD that I got off of eBay for $50 so I have a black HDD too on a white console lol.

I just bought a new elite for 249. the slim seems to do nothing anymore special than other ones. who cares about built in wireless? i dont , i already have an adapter. matter of fact i have 2. my other elite still has 60 gb of storage left , so i dont care abut having 256

Lol Marv. I'm not gonna buy it with my own money. I'm just gonna make the woman buy it for me for xmas.

still thats 300 you could use toward something else. I just cant justify it. Even if i did get it id probably take it back and get something else. lol

Like what? I'll have my EVO by then so there's nothing else for her to get me. No games will be out or anything so it's a crap shoot between the new 360 slim or Yankee apparel which I have all the Yankee apparel a fan could ever want. lol

Honestly, I wouldn't buy another xbox again. The only main difference is the built on wifi and and more usb. No blue ray, no faster processor. Just a newer look. Not worth $300 imo

The built-in WiFi and 250GB HDD make the purchase itself worthwhile. Everyone seems to overlook the fact that the console's casing has been redone which extremely lowers that horrific rate of failure by a long shot.

It interests me, but I won't be buying it until the bugs are ironed out.

What bugs? You do realize that it's a console, right? The games are usually the items carrying the bugs/glitches and not the game console.

They also moved the huge power supply into the case which is nice. They also have only 1 fan instead of 2 which is suppose to quiet it down.

I had to sell my Elite about 2 months ago to fix my car and I currently have a PS3 that I traded a laptop for. So far I liked my 360 better, but I'm giving the PS3 and try.

Yep, plus they removed the two 20nm fans and replaced it with a 45nm fan. Another thing to note is that it has a new chip (Valhalla) which consumes A LOT less power.

Two pals of mine have purchased the new 360 slim and verified that the console runs very quiet and are quite ecstatic with the WiFi (elimination of CAT5 cables running throughout their homes) and the large 250GB HDD.

i dont think that microsoft was looking to reinvent a machine that could take on the ps3 directly, we all know that the ps3 has more under the hood. Microsoft was looking to refresh the product that would complement the Kinect launch. The commercial states clearly "Ready for Kinect" although i would think all 360's are if you buy the extra required harware... If Microsoft makes the average person think the benefit with this new 360 is Kinect ability, more money for them, everyone who knows the truth still gets a few upgrades like the fan and integrated wifi; id get it however, looks clean, runs quieter and is more power efficient, im all about the green thing...

Unfortunately, it's very difficult to get rid of pests. Damn cracks!

Solution to scratching discs?: Don't move the 360 Slim. GENIUS!

It's more annoying than anything else, honestly. PRECISELY!! It won't scratch if you aren't an idiot and move your 360 while a disc is in operation. You would think that this was common sense though.

hmm, had two sony ps2's fail, traded the ps2's with the dead drives in for an original xbox, loved it and never went back. bought a launch edition 360, after 2.5 half years of intense game playing it died, but because of the extended warranty from MS it was replaced, now a year and a half later no problems with it. your posts are juvenile and your arguments idiotic and not well thought out. if you want to bash MS go join an apple forum or a sony forum. dont have anything constructive to add to this thread, dont click on it...

I had one PS2 fail and bought the PS2 slim which was a complete waste of $ since I gave it away shortly after and bought the original xbox myself (that thing was soooooo huge!). Like yourself, I got the 360 at release and never experienced a RRoD until perhaps a year ago so it's been a little longer than you but I still went out and bought the newer 360 Arcade w/ HDMI around New Years and been happy ever since.
