Droid X looks pretty sweet, but ...

The DroidX is only $70/mo with Voice + Data (aka $240 cheaper than the Evo)

People talk about how Sprint includes text messaging but really who wouldn't just use Google Voice for free on the DroidX?

Now the free mobile to mobile I could understand, but I rarely go over 250 min per month...

people are forgetting the specs/features of the phones, though. the new Droid X won't have a front facing camera, let alone 4G capabilities.

sorry, but this phone, imo, doesn't beat the Evo. a comparable phone will come out once another network has rolled out 4G, and has the same specs and some versus the Evo. the Evo isn't gonna be beat for about a year if you ask me.

on top of that, and i've said this before, i freaking hate those hardware buttons on the Droid X.

OMG that is one FUGLY phone LOL!
WTF is that huge @ss hump?

LOL
"The bottom is super skinny, the body slowly growing growing thicker until it's topped by a fat head. (Which gives you something meaty to grab in your pocket, making it surprisingly easy to whip out.) "

WTF kinda review is that hahahahahahahahaha

goota love the haters with evo's. lol.

cause watching someone talk to you is really going to catch on anytime soon.

we are all android fans, cant you just be happy that the bar is still being raised?

hey, happy for you guys if you like that.
but raising the bar it's not with missing features.

as soon as apple makes it so iPhone users can video chat with anyone on any device/pc, it will catch on. that would be a lot of users with FF cams, man. you can't deny that. it's because of the iPhone that everyone is coming out with all these touch screen devices. so, to say that video chat won't catch on is a blatant lie and someone trying to play down that feature. it's wanted, or else it wouldn't have been implemented.

edit: oh, and the only reason Evo users are in here is because someone posted this thread in the Evo section.

Not if your phone is the one being beat. The EVO really just can't compare to the Droid X in terms of specifications. One of the arguments that they'll use is front-facing camera. Hello... how many people actually use it? lol

I have a feeling that now the EVO users are going to join with Apple when it comes with the front-facing camera vs. Droid X. Anything to try to make their phone better. :p

the only reason that video calls will catch on is because steve jobs says so. and since the iphone is so huge then you are absolutely correct.

honestly, its a cool novelty but i cant see looking at my friends to tell them im on my way over. maybe if your a husband that travels for work and would like to see his wife and kids i could see but then they have netbooks that can do the same thing.

What is google voice? You don't need a texting plan with this?

Google assigns you a new number that basically forwards to your current cell number. You can also have that number ring to your land line as well if you want. People can sms the number and it's free of charge. So after i got my new google number i started slowly texting my friends and told them to text my new number. I was able to cancel my texting plan with Verizon and save $10 a month.

Google just opened the plan up to the public as well. Go to google.com/voice for a start.

uh no. go to the Evo thread and see how many posts/replies you can find regarding applications such as fring and qik. then tell me no one uses it. if you wouldn't use it, great. but the majority would use it if it was there.

i'd compare this with me going from an old flip phone to the iPhone. never used email and those things on my flip phone, but that's because those features weren't there. bought an iPhone, then started using all of that stuff and am now unable to live without it.

I'm jealous of EVO users? lol I would've seriously regretted getting the EVO, as many EVO users are now, after knowing all of the X's features.

Just wait to see a lot of ex-EVO users switching over to the Droid X.

it has no extra features than the Evo. it is actually missing a few things.
why are people spitting out false information?

and most certainly won't be getting a Droid X. as i've mentioned before, i'd be more inclined to get the Droid2.

Droid X pros:
854x480 FWVGA screen
supposedly slightly faster cpu

Evo pros:
FF cam
4G

'nuff said.

i was the exact same way when i bought my first smart phone, the treo. first it was e-mail/internet, then facebook, ect. and to think i thought i didn't need access to any of that nonsense. lol. here i am 4 phones later and now if it doesnt have that stuff, i don't want it.

Absolutely no extra features than the EVO?

Why are you spitting out false information?

Just a few "nonexisting" extra features:

8GB internal memory (and included is a 16GB card just for kicks)
8MP camera... w/ IMAGE STABILIZATION
Multitouch keyboard
Noise cancellation mic
Mic dedicated for video capture

give a source, as i've just linked one above underlying the features and comparing them.

it's cool that you apparently have undying love for a phone that hasn't been released yet. it's called hype. and it's okay. i don't feel the need to defend my phone. i love it and wouldn't trade it for anything out or coming out in the near future. i'm sure you VZW users will love this one just as much. enjoy.
