Possible Exchange

I'm in a similar boat. Just ordered two Incredibles for a family plan, knowing this phone was coming out (but before we found out what it looked like, was inside, etc). Now we are thinking about switching at least one of the phones to the X instead. We haven't even gotten the Incredibles yet. They aren't due until this Friday. I've gotta call tomorrow to see how best to do this. I'm hoping if we wait to activate the new phones, then we can just exchange it for the X w/o paying any fees. Anyone have any info on how that would work?

as far as the restock fee goes that is up to that store if they will waive that. i can see how it upsets us the customers. bt put yourself in the companys shoes you carry products and people use something and then return it and didnt pay anything for it and now its a used phone. corporate stores do not sell any used phones so its a loss on verizon. why should they have to pay cause a person either didnt do their research on phones or chose not to play with the live phones in the stores. thats why they have them so people can do whatever they want on it and see if they like it and if it does what they want.

I just got my Moto Droid a week or so ago. I'm really interested in the X but still iffy. My 30 days end on the 10th of July, would they let me trade it in for a preorder? (I still didnt mail in the rebate). Any help would be great :)

I don't think they will allow you to trade it in for a preorder, but you can always return the phone and use the upgrade for a later date (Droid X). Don't mail in your rebate because it will just complicate things a bit.

Well the VW store I went to to check them out didn't have any live working models. (I even made a comment that it was silly not having working models and it wasn't any better than looking at them online) .

On top of that you really can't get a total feel for the phone until you actual use it for awhile. Amazon will take your return free of restock fees and even pay for the return shipping. And while VW doesn't resell them they do send them back out as refurbished units.

As an example:
My Dinc is nice I'm a little older and while I can see it most of the time when I'm tired everything is blurry to me and very hard to read. I would never had noticed this in store. I also have come to hate the fact that no keyboard has cursor keys and expects me to use my BIG FAT fingers to place the cursor in some little tiny area. (it takes me many tries) A Bigger screen should help both of those problems for me.

Not sure if you were addressing me or someone else, but here goes. I have no problem paying the restock fee, but I'd like to avoid it if possible. That's why in my case I may just not activate the phone, therefore it will still be new and hopefully they'll just let me do an exchange for 1 of the phones. As for research, whew, I did too much as it was. I knew the X was coming out, but the specs at that time were not readily available. Also, I'm upgrading to my first smartphone, so I've not had a data plan before. So, I ran to the store to make my purchase the weekend following AT&T's move to stop the unlimited data plans because I wanted to make sure I had that locked in for eternity before VZW did the same. I thought that might come about with the X, which it didn't as we now know.

Wow, buyers remorse and you haven't even activated the phone yet! Just pokin' a little fun. I'd definately choose the Droid X over the Incredible just like you.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do,

haha, actually, it's not me. I bought 2 incredibles for a new family plan. I'll probably keep my incredible because I like having a smaller phone (though I admit to being a bit torn), but my b/f wants the X for the larger screen since he'll use it a lot for youtube and watching video.
