Im usually not one to be too fearful of this type thing.......... but since Im 1 month in on a 2 year contract........... I think I will wait til ALOT of people have tried successfully before Im gonna run the risk of this

theres just too many unknowns at this point......

and being my first smartphone root there are double unknowns for me......

A) I would need a step by step in tardcake terms on how to do it ROFL

B) partitioned SD card / non partitioned SD card / or whatever state the card must be in....... its gotta be spelled out for me

C) ADB commands........ not my forte'

D) just general jitters at screwin a step up

E) even if all goes well and it works perfectly, what are the later consequences........ theres a reason the leakers cant root right now....... will I be putting myself in some leaky boat for the future

so as you can see I have a few concerns....... I can patiently wait for the ALL CLEAR!! signal

Im having trouble getting it to read the recovery, im trying to mess with the SD card like they said at XDA. No luck yet.

I have been trying this method for hours now with different sd cards and different methods. Watched the video 10 times and followed the thread instructions to the tee, nothing! Can't get the "offline" message just a blank loop.


BTW, I went from v1-v2-v3 and finally OTA just for kicks. Not sure what dc_striker was running when this worked for him.

you cant go from 2.1.3 to the OTA.
if you could do that then you could have rooted long ago.

Yea v3 to RUU (synonymous to OTA in my mind).

If someone is able to replicate this hopefully we will get more details.

wel the RUU and the OTA may be the same, but in this case they are very different. OTA allows for root still, the RUU doesnt

The OP on xda said he was running the RUU. As of now, no one has replicated. Hopi.g for news soon.

Which means that I should be able to replicate this root but I have been unable to as of yet, still working hard but I have to hang it up for the day soon.

Anyone else with results yet?

What do they mean by the whole SD card thing?

As I understand, you have the SD card out while powering into recovery, but put it in BEFORE the recovery mode comes up?

That is the way I understand it as well. I have tried a ton of different combos of in and out at different times during boot and recovery, tried without the sd, and a bunch of other stuff.

I'm calling this a fluke one time thing until I hear results from someone else because I have beat this exploit as if it were a kitten and I think it stopped breathing. Lucky a$$ dude got his root and I just got tired Hopefully someone gives us more!

May help having a 16gb card too, i've got a 2 and an 8 to work with.

Either way, I've spent the last hour and a half getting ADB set up and trying... Over... And over...

He (the leak rooter is his new nickname) has an 8g card. And as far as walking us through, he just told me to read the tuto, he said he followed it word for word, no additional insight at all.

Unfortunately, I've done just what the tutorial says a number of times and no luck.

He even mentions in the thread he did SOMETHING with his SD card, which is not mentioned in the tutorial, so I dunno. May need to sleep on it and let others with more experience figure what needs done.

The tuto says this about the SD card "If you Have Trouble Finding Device.. Pull the SDCard, Once Found & In recovery Put sdcard back in!!". I tried this with no luck. Dc_striker said he could not remember exactly what he did with his card so we need to just kinda try a bunch of stuff I guess.

I've tried having it out, and putting it in at random times between vol up and recovery mode happening, in and out over and over while it's in recovery, letting it just sit there...

There must be more to it, or he just got some fluke (which I doubt), or (hate to say it) a hoax...
