  • Have you exhausted all non-root options first? I'd do that 1st, and if that fails, then I'd be happy to assist you in rooting. I just want to make sure there's not something else wrong with your phone that even rooting wouldn't fix. Have you done a factory reset? Or perhaps had the Verizon store set your phone back to stock? Even if you plan to still root, these are diagnostic steps I would take on my own phone to troubleshoot bluetooth problems. That way if something did go wrong with your actual phone that software can't fix, you can exchange it for a new one under warranty with no danger of them denying your claim because you're phone is rooted. I'm just trying to help you play it safe a bit.

If you still want to root regardless, I'd be happy to help. My Q's then would be do you want to simply root so you can remove bloat & install apps that require root (like wifi tether, titanium backup, root explorer, or autokiller)? Or go all out w/custom ROMs, kernels, & themes?
If you're squeamish against rooting - and I'm not judging, as i certainly understand the motivation for NOT rooting - then I would try every non-root and non-Odin fix that is "by the book" before doing so. Make sure you test your bluetooth device on another headset to make sure for certain that it is the Fascinate screwing things up and NOT the motorola bluetooth. Bluetooth headsets are virtually all cheaply built devices, some better than others of course, but still small and sensitive tech, built with only profit margins in mind. They are the biggest profit driver for cell tech companies right now because of high margins.

Just make sure you back up all your user info to your google account, and for safe keeping back up your SD card on your computer.
Well, that's a tough one. I've never had bluetooth issues with any bluetooth headset whatsoever, including my pioneer in dash dvd w/bluetooth. That includes all versions of 2.1 and 2.2 that I've ever tried. I would do a factory reset and go back to eclair, then install all the OTA updates over the air from scratch. There are ways to fix or at least troubleshoot the issue if you don't mind flashing your own radio updates in Odin. It's pretty easy, but "technically" voids the warranty.
