Transdroid: Nice to have at your fingertips

I've only used Transdroid with Torrentflux-b4rt, and with that it's only able to see what's currently transferring, start and pause torrents. I think with other clients you get more functions, but this is all I need for now. I'd give it 3/5 as is. 5/5 if it had total control over...

    Speedtest.net Speed Test: amazingly handy

Very handy for finding out how well your phone and network provider fare in a given area. Also good for showing people how well their WiFi network is performing at a glance. Well made app. Love that it can use the GPS and find the closest server instead of going by IP. Useful, I use it at least...

Shazam: Really good at what it does

Shazam is really good at finding the song. If it doesn't get it the first time, I wait a few seconds and try again. Out of the dozens of songs I've used it for, I think it couldn't find one. It's also great at settling disputes. Yes, that was David Bowie. And yes that was Aerosmith with...

Radar Now!: We saw the tornado because of this!

We were in a restaurant and there was heavy rain and lighting all around. We knew there were tornado warnings for the area, and the news behind the bar said that one had been spotted near us. I pulled this out, got the current radar map and was able to see where the hot spot of the storm was, we...

    SchottGunn: fun for a minute

It's fun for a minute. Another great app to show off that moving the phone around can do things. I use it as a demo app for showing off, but nothing else. It's fun.

    Metal Detector: It actually works.

People were surprised when I showed them this, but it uses the magnetic compass that's in the phone as a metal detector, and it works. It can be a bit finicky, but that's probably because there is metal nearby when you don't expect there to be any. It's fun and can come in handy as an actual...

    Gravipool Lite: It's tough

Played this on my Nexus one for a good while. It's tough. Looks easy but it's not. I had to run to get something and the person I was with asked what they were supposed to do in the mean time, I gave them this to play and they couldn't put it down.

    Bubble: super handy

That's come in handy more than once. I don't know how accurate it is compared to a regular level. But in a pinch or just because it's handy and the tools aren't, it does a good job. Don't forget to calibrate it for your phone on a known level surface. The back of your phone might be curved or...

    LightSaber: Battle on!

Get 2 or more people with this, after drinking... this can be a lot of fun. It's still really cool even when not buzzed. Just hearing the lightsaber power up is enough to deter foes.

    Ruger - SR9: Fun stuff

Fun. Play around with the settings and see what they do, it's all around just a fun app. I've shot the real SR9 and SR9c. Holding a phone and tapping the screen is nothing like the real thing, but it's fun when hanging out with friends. The sounds are good too, I think they were well done...

Steamy Window: Gimicky, but it gets a "wow"

It's fun to show off what the phone can do and someones creativity in making the app. People like blowing into the microphone and fogging it up again, but honestly the app doesn't get used for anything other than just showing off the phone to someone who hasn't see it.

    Wifi Analyzer: Very useful

Tool! It's great. I was able to quickly show someone why their network had high signal (bars) but was still slow. It was on a congested channel. Moved it to another region and it was like night and day. Very helpful.

    GPS Status: Get it!

Get it now! This app is great. I've used this a lot. It's great for knowing your heading if you are lost, but I like it for the altitude info. Granted GPS isn't 100% when it comes to altitude, it's better at LAT and LONG, but it's close enough. I used it while in an airplane at 30,000 feet going...

    Tuner - gStrings: Quite good

I've not tried it with many things, but it's been handy for checking the tune of a guitar while out and about with some friends. I didn't think I'd need it, but I found it when I needed it and it was really great at what it does.

    Google Goggles: Fun and useful

Sure this app is fun and can amaze your friends. But this has come in really handy for me at work. I find a use for it at work every week, from trying to identify white boxes that only have a barcode to quickly finding more info about something by just taking a picture of it. I think it's more...
