If you don't use >300 monthly phone minutes, no contract unlimited data for US$25/month from Virgin Mobile has worked out ok for me. A few frustrations probably more on my beginner status than the phone. It seems good not to be bound by a contract. Until I get a 4G pad, this seems to offer all functions I know of, from Office apps to YouTube.
When the first one broke last winter, they immediately sent me a new one without question, with the newest model. That lost my contacts list however. I should have Google synched to the cloud or home computer.
